Recolor and other spriting tutorials

First of all, I'm really sorry if this is the wrong forum. I spent five minutes wondering where this should go, and then just decided on here. The tutorial area didn't seem right, because it doesn't seem to be intended for questions. Go ahead and move it, if this isn't where it should be.

I was just wondering if anyone remembers where some of the basic spriting tutorials, like how to do recolors and the "basic poses" tutorial linked in Ccoa's Demistifying guide have gotten to. I learned to recolor back on .net using a really great tutorial I found there, but it's been so long since I've done it that I need a refresher course (both Gimp and Photoshop are confusing as hell). I realize that some tutorials were probably lost to the hacker, but I seem to remember some of them being on other web sites. I just can't remember where.

Also, I'm aware there are a few spriting tutorials in the Tutorials section, but they aren't really what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

there's a stickied thread in the tutorials from Lene that has links to tutorials, I don't know if she's gotten around to reposting her links there or not, but you should definately ask there.

As for Ccoa's pose tutorial, she did move the topic over here, but it hasn't been restored since the hack (and there's no edit history so I can't fix it)

I'll bump it and see if she'll repost it then it'll get moved over to the tutorial thread.

This does bring up an interesting point I may run by Raz to see if maybe we should start a thread for people to tell us what tutorials they want to see.

Thanks a lot for helping to get Ccoa's pose tutorial restored! This has really been a big help. Does anyone know of any good recolor tutorials? I have The Gimp, but the one I learned with previously was, I think, for Paintshop, and it worked fine.

Tutorials for recoloring? Why, I can write one right now.

One. Open Paint.

Two. Choose the color you want to replace as the primary color.

Three. Choose the color you want to replace it with as the secondary color.

Four. Click the eraser tool.

Five. Hold down the right mouse button and drag the eraser tool over all instaces of the color you want to replace.​

It's easy, isn't it? Not many people know of the feature, but it is incredibly useful and makes recoloring very quick and easy in Paint. Unfortunately, picking good colors is up to you.
