Ravin

Maybe Ill have more luck here than I do anywhere else with publicizing my RTP game project. Its name is Ravin. Its for RMXP and does not require RTP. I could play this on school computers.

Story
A mercenary named Serph finds himself in a little problem after coming late for guarding the castle. After entering the castle, he runs into a girl by accident and knocks her unconscious. Being the way he is, he leaves her behind, and tries to find a way out of the castle.

Characters

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff30 ... ker/01.jpg[/img]Serph - Hes a lazy mercenary who is pretty clumsy.

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff30 ... er/e01.png[/img]Castro - A thief who happened to be stealing from the castle at the time Serph runs in.

Ideas to make game better
-Longer levels
-harder enemies
-more items.
-Abit lighter in the caves.

Hopefully the game isn't as dark when your playing as it is very difficult to make it out without having to strain.  This isn't the way it should be.  If you want the game to feel darker then lower the brightness of the tilesets and charactersets themselves for better results.  Trust me I made the same mistakes once and was advised otherwise and quite correctly so.

Also I'm assuming this is a very short game because you have not provided as much information as people are encouraged to at this site.  If this isn't the case please provide a little more depth about your plot and characters and perhaps what type of game it even is.  This doesn't mean you have to spoil surprises.

You don't need to make the headers so big and red.

As for the actual game, I can't comment on much right now because you've given us a total of five sentences describing the game. I don't really have a good idea of what the game's about right now. You should give us some more story information and definitely more on the characters. (woops, Calibre beat me to it)

However I do really like the plot, it seems fairly original and could be a very good game if it's done right. I would advise not using the Arshes character set. (and it's not just personal, it's a very unpopular sprite) One question: did you make the face graphics? They're nice, but I'm not sure if they fit the style of your game.

Actually, the story I ma working on with my friends. They arent that great at making stories to introduce something, so im giving em time.

there's something weird going on with your controls, man. the arrows are unresponsive in menus, and the c key doesn't function (despite the settings in the f1 menu.) I'm not sure if it was just a momentary hiccup or what, but if you're using any sort of script that might do that I'd suggest you cut it out -- the way it operated, it was very difficult to play.

It worked fine on my computer too. The framerate was a little laggish, but that was all.

I think I might've found a glitch. The girl you knock out in the beginning mysteriously teleports to the top of the room when you leave and return. Also, I suggest adding some sort of explanation in the game as to what's going on; if I didn't read the topic I wouldn't have a clue.

Ah. Also, notice another glitch. Move the rook, then leave the room. then come back. then it does nothing. Same story as the girl. In basic, thats where the started before they changed switches. So, they stay in their previous places. Im gonna play with variables to fix that.
