Ranged Attack

Hi people,

I've been looking around quite a bit and can't quite find what i need. It's pretty easy to explain but it may be harder to code....I need range for the battle. What i mean by that is that a ''Front Character'' cannot attack a ''Back Character'' unless it's with magic of course...and vice versa. The only exception to this rule should be Bows, guns and magic wich will not care about ''position'' of the character and when no character are in Front row anymore, the back character are ''considered'' as in front. (so my swordsman can attack them ...)

I don't know if my explanation is clear enough but if anyone could either code me someting or point me in the good direction with a forum post on the subject and/or a project using this so i can implement it in my game.

Thanks all.

PS: i'm using RPGM XP and quite a lot of custom script....but i still use the default battle system and i use Minkoff sideview Battler Enhanced. (if that can help...)

I'm not really sure that you'd need a script for this but I'm sure there is one out there...

But you could probably do it with element tagging (go into Database, under systems tab and set it in the attribute array.)

I'd make an attribute, something like "vs Ranged" or something, then make two copies of an enemy, one that'll be able to be attacked right away, and one you'll need a ranged weapon/spell for, tag them with that attribute.

Then set equipment up with that attribute.

Thats a start, now you'll have to figure out how to event the rest yourself. At least, I hope this is a good start to answering your question, I'll investigate into it further tonight when I get off work because I need something like that too.

Yeah, i'll try tagging them with elements...but if you find a script and/or anything related to this please let me know. ( i just think there is a easier way than tagging my 200 or so monster...)

Thanks
