quick question about skills

im at work working on some code, but dont have the help file im trying to find a way if i have the skill_id to find out what element it is.

for example if i want fire:

skill_id = 7

def element_type(skill_id)
return element
end

it should return 1

edit: i thought it was something like $data_skills[7].element or something

Skills elements are is an array, since you can add more than one element for a skill, you can get the element list using
$data_skills[Skill ID].element_set
