Quick Event Question

Hey guys, Im new to RPG Maker XP and to this forum entirely, but I was wondering if you guys could help me out with a quick question. ( So if this is in the wrong place, my bad, and perhaps you could tell me where i should put it. ) Im sure this is somewhere on the site i just cant seem to find it :/ Anyway, I have a cutscene where the main character is walking through a small town, and music is playing in the back-ground, but he is to fast and the scene ends before the music does... Is there a way to make your character walk instead of sprint like a maniac? I thought i had found it when i went to "set move route : Player" and then i turned down his speed, but it didn't seem to slow him down at all... I also tried to slow down the frequency but that also didn't help ( I think that has something to do with the animation maybe? ) But i was wandering if you guys could help a poor noob out...

The event i used for the speed thing was just turn up his speed, put it on auto-run, and then deleted the event so i may be screwing it up there some how as well.

Thanks for any help you can give me :)

You're basically doing everything right... the only thing I can think of is that it messes up because you didn't put the slowdown/speedup commands in the same move route instance as the movement, but even that should work.
To explain the commands: Speed is the amount of time needed to travel between tile 1 and tile 2, Frequency is the amount of time that's paused until moving on to the next tile.

Aha! so that is the difference... thank you, I was very confuzzled about that and that was about the clearest answer I have seen discussing the difference, and as for the event, it seems it has something to do with other events that I have on the map, because when I go to a test map and try the slow player down thing it works perfect... so this leads me to believe that my other events are screwing with this one... and i tried it on the same project so it cant be the scripts... Now this is where it gets weird... the only other auto-run events i have are

1) Play BGM then delete that event
2) Place picture then delete that event
3) Weather Effects / screen tenting / switch - which leads to a lighting event
4) And of course the move event itself...

Any ideas on which one of these could be screwing with it? Any help would be appreciated, and thanks again :P

(NOTE: Im completely new so it may be a very obvious error that I'm making that you guys would be like "Hey, there is no way he would do something THAT stupid..."

EDIT: After much fooling around i managed to fix it, but I don't know why it fixed it... all I did was change all of my auto-run events to Parallel Process events (even though all my auto-run events were deleted after they preformed their desired function, apparently that is not the same as a parallel process event)... does anyone know why this fixed it? Thanks again for your troubles

Just a tip: never use multiple Autorun events, but move everything into one. This will make scenes easier to modify. There is a huge difference between Autorun and Parallel Processing: Autorun halts other event processing, while Parallel runs in the background.

Welcome to the forums, anyway. If you'd like some more help, don't be afraid to check out the FAQ or Tutorials section!

Ah, see, I'm learning new stuff already :P ... Well thanks and i think this topic is closed so if some moderator ( or who-ever can close topics ) can come and close this I would be a happy camper, anyway thanks again
