Question on scripting

Ok, I just started this RMXP few days ago.. And I got the hang of using the program. I can do switches, chest, mapping, etc. But I am having trouble scripting. Let's say, I was going to use side view battle system script. I found it.But I have no clue where to paste it to.... I just need someone to tell me what goes where.. Heres the scripting i need to do

Importing characters(I imported the char, and when I go to database and click char and click the image, it comes out as a sprite sheet. How do I fix this)Also, I got a tamplet but I don't know how to replace with the one that came with the RMXP program.

Adding custom skills, and other things require scripting right?

EDIT: And when I try to open demo files, like a demo for a cbs, it says cannot find file RGSS102E.dll
