I can't answer the poll question, simply because it's not as simple as that.
If something is not stated explicitly in the Bible, I believe conscience (which I believe is the "voice of God" if you will) and a touch of common sense (if something is stated as right/wrong in the Bible, then the right/wrong of other things can be derived from that) is what should determine what is right or wrong.

Hi, I'm a card-carrying member of the ACLU. Since god doesn't exist, it's hard to answer this question. However, I will attempt to, anyway. Morality is completely relative, nothing is absolute. The bible and ten commandments are tablets written down by men thousands of years ago to control society today. There was no "god" who told them to write down what they did.

The universe is, by nature, neutral until pushed in one direction or another. Therefore, nothing is either "right" or "wrong": values are assigned subjectively by individuals.

C'est fini~

Cleaned up. Please try not to emphasise your lack of respect for others' beliefs. You are allowed to believe something else without trying to throw it in others' faces.

Well that's your opinion isn't it? So it should be stated as such - not as the final word on the matter just because you say so.

Off-topic stuff cleaned-up. Erk.

God doesn't have to 'say' something is right for it to be right. I know people who believe that God exists [and bla bla bla you know it all better than I do] and for the most part, they can find truth for themselves. God and science aren't on the opposite sides of a fence, and I don't really know why everyone thinks so. You can think that an omnipotent being created the universe and that electro-magnetism exists, just like I can believe this omnipotent being doesn't exist, and still manage to be stupid enough to think that the world is flat. Just because some clergymen thought the world was flat at some point meant that God thought that too.

Christian- Everything is right until God says it is wrong

I am a devout Christian and I have always been raised this way. Well, not everything is right, but things aren't considered sinful until God says they are wrong. There are still the boundaries of right and wrong that lay outside of what God says, and their laws are within human nature itself (although that was created by God as well anyway). God's words in the bible dictate what is SINFUL and what isn't. That is what determines whether you go to heaven or hell, not smaller matters of everday morality.

Additionally, purposefully not capitalizing the G in God isn't some blow to Christian's. It's capitalized because it's a proper noun, as per the rules of English grammar. So you're not really "sticking it to" anyone.

The poll seems quite shallow, it could be more defined to say, regarding worship everything is wrong and astray except what God defines.

Meaning you can't simply worship anything and everything, but should worship the One who Created you alone.

Whereas for habits, culture, living, everything is permissible and right, unless prohibited by God.

Well said!

I believe one of the primary problems with interpreting Christian doctrine and acessing what is and isn't permissible, is that Christianity doesn't really laid down any fundemental principles to define itselt.

This is why you can find some Christian sects who even refuse to use electricity without any direct scripture to condemn it, rather they simply base it upon the fact that there's nothing to permit it.

Fundemental principles of Christianity are:

Belief in 1 God
Belief that Jesus is God
Belieft that His Holy Spirit is God
Believe in Jesus and be saved from your sins
Repent
Act

If you take the interpreting out then your left with just what God says...it's simple then.

I meant there's no principles for interpretation, how does one define worship, when do acts of worship become permissible/impermissible. For example, if Christians pray to the angels, to saints, is that considered breaking the first commandment, etc.

What about for habits and laws, does one assume everything is forbidden unless God permits it, or the opposite.

What you defined lunarhiro are the basic tenets of faith for Christianity, not the principles for interpretation and jurisprudence.

"all scripture is God-Breathed" is quite a good principle for interpretation. i.e., everything is there because God meant it to be there, and God doesn't lie.

Yeah, i would say that praying to anyone other than God is wrong.

(Quite excited that my thread has become a hot topic!!!)
