Question about UMS

I believe that icon which I call the thing "next message or stop" icon can be edited in the Windowskin. To do that, you have to probably open the windowskin in a image editing program like Paint or GIMP.
 
While I'm normally not a big fan of cheap fixes for problems, it might actually save some trouble here... just get rid of the arrow altogether (i.e. by making it perfectly transparent by modifying the sprite), and instead draw it just for the Window_Meassage window (need to do this within Scene_Map, and whatever other window uses messages in your project). That way, you can easily set the position of the cursor without having to mess with invisible classes and might end up with a bunch of code instead of the ~10 lines per scene you need this way.

@Seph: That's not quite right... the arrow in the screenshot is the animated message scrolling arrow, which has nothing to do with the overflow indicators ^^ (which also is why my solution won't mess up anything else in your game, as that arrow is only used for messages as far as I know...)
