Question: About sprites found in forums

So I am pretty new to this still, and I am about to ask probably the dumbest question Sorry.  But I keep seeing people posting these naked sprites of all different types for people to make characters with.  I am almost pretty sure they work with one of the probably many paperdoll type programs out there where you can make your own sprites by choosing between tons of preset hairstyles, faces & clothing.  The problem I have run into is where to find these programs, much less what they can be called so I can search it myself.  I just cant find anything   Can somebody fill me in on the mystery lol.

Actually, the templates you see posted around are for other spriters to use as a base.  There might be generator programs for some of them, but as for the vast majority, I don't think so.

It was a fairly decent but unfinished tool last time I saw it, but it was apparently 'still in progress'. I haven't seen it in over a year because I usually sprite from scratch. Hopefully it has alot more resources by now, because it prettymuch didn't have much last time I used it. However, its the perfect tool for what you're looking for.

@Kain - @Bluesin, the character maker is up and running. I have it and use it as a base to make my rtp sprites. It has a good selection of samples and peices

good selection... not really its pretty limited. i found that im better off making body parts and using photoshop to make sprites and they work perfectly in RMXP.

It's not that bad , it's good enoungh for RTP edits , but if you want something completely diffrent , don't use it...
