Question about events involving enemies

I've been noticing this for a long time, but whenever I go to add an event that involves enemies, its got the numbers one through eight on a list, but I have no idea what 1-8 means... are there suppose to be enemy names there instead, or is there a way to add them to the list? Example:

Those would only be used for processing in battle. Battle events can be set up for each troop.

They correspond to each enemy in a troop. If you had a Ghost and a Rat, for example, in a troop, then 1. would target the Ghost and 2. would target the Rat.
