Psynergy type system

Been creating my new game for around a month or so now...trying to figure how to make an event system such as golden sun's psynergy system worked.

For those of you who don't know, the psynergy system was using magic from the menu on any of the maps, and if the magic was used in the right place (aka in front of the target facing the target) it would cause an event to happen thus changing the graphic of the original thing making it an accessable passage, grow a plant, etc.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
 
First off, I'd like to say that Golden Sun is NOT a game type that is easily able to be made with RMXP or RMVX. Theres a lot of little problems, from the pushable blocks you can jump on, to the psynergy system, to the actual djiins. Next, although you could probably event the psynergy system with enough work, it would be a rather difficult and time consuming process. Honeslty, I'd recommend that if you've just started with the program, you look at something much simpler to replicate, like the original Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games. They have much less in the way of exotic systems that are difficult to replicate, and RMVX is ideal for replicating their mapping style.


Finally, the simplest way to replicate what you actually described is an event that checks to see if they have a skill (using conditional branch) and then plays an animation and does whatever its supposed to.
 
Thanks for the response, I'm not trying to recreate golden sun in any way, nor would have the push part of the system just other ideas I have going for a psynergy "type" system for a more engaging field and discovery experience.

Haven't just started with this program, was one of the original members of this site, was back on .net, worked on many a project but took a six month or so break from actually working with rmxp.

Thirdly, That's around what I was trying to achieve with events, but I'll try and mess around with that idea for a little while longer and learn switches better again I guess, thanks.

Sorry, saw the "month or so" and assumed newbie. Yeah, I'd recommend you just create an event where the player activates it by pressing a button, and it checks to see if they have a skill before doing anything. (Go a couple of pages into the conditional branch for that option)
