Problem with Parallax

So I have a parallax background that I made and It is the right size and everything. But when I play my game the tiles that I placed on the parallax background move slower than the background so trees and stuff are look like they are sliding in the direction I am walking....any ideas on how to fix this?

You need to chose the Loop Horizontally and Loop Vertically, so when the character walks, the picture starts at the beggining again (when the limit is crossed). The auto-scroll is used for when it scrolls alone (like, for example, a set of clouds moving without the player movement).

Thats not what I am looking for. I made the background for my map (grass water etc) using gimp and imported it to serve as the background the character walks on. Then tiled the trees and stuff. I want the character to be able to move on the background as if it were a regular map, not to stay in the same place. However when I run the game. The tiled part of the map moves slower that the parallax background so it looks as if the tiles are sliding around in the parallax map. When I check the vertical and horizontal loop, the parallax doesn't move at all. I want it to move, just at the same speed as the tiles...

The only way you can prevent the backgrounds from looping is if you make each map 20x15 tiles big. The backgrounds will always move on bigger maps, which is a good feature.

I'm guessing you were trying to make the background look like the ground?
I suggest you'd rather just split your ground texture into parts, and copy it into a tileset.
