Probably a dumb question

I have a question, as i am fairly new at this, this may seem a dumb question but:
Whenever i change my party through an event in XP they go back to level 1 again. They lose all Exp points. So i get XP to remember their level before i take them off my team then give them their level back when they come back. Is this the right way to do it, or is their another way? Thanks

There's a much, much easier way.

Note the "Initialize" box that I have circled. When somebody re-joins the group, you need to make sure that the "Initialize" box is not checked, just like the example there.

You have to uncheck the initialize box when you remove/add someone from your team.
