Priority Problem

Hey R3!

I'm running into a very weird problem. Essentially, what's going on is that I'm mapping in my game, and when I set one group tiles in Layer 3, for example, even though all objects in Layer 3 are supposed to be in the foreground, tiles in lower layers, for example Layer 2, with higher priorities (these can be set in the Tileset tab of the Database), are in front of the layer 3 tiles Is this how it's supposed to be or...? I'm completely confused, I tried it out with the default tilesets and the same results are given, here are screenshots to better explain my problem:

Awesome Bro

What is happening is it is the Priority in the tileset.

there are 2 sets of Priorities

Map layer Priority & Tileset Layer Priority

the images you shown are an example of this...
-------------------------------------------------

if you go to DATABASE, Tileset, and press the Priority button

you will see numbers from 1 - 5 with little stars next to them

the higher the priority in the tileset the higher on the map it goes.

notice how the rocky cliffs have 1 with a little star.
but the grassy cliff doesn't

the 1 means it has priority and will be placed on TOP of everything below 1

of course these #'s go up to 5.

I suggest playing around with it.

So essentially that means, even though some of these objects are in layer 3, they would still be put below something in layer 2 if it has a higher priority? So priority takes precedent over layering?

Awesome Bro

Yes, say I put something that has a Tileset priority of 1... on layer 1
and on layer 3 I cover the entire map with grass (Tileset priority of 0).

when I test play the thing on Layer 1 will still be on top.

on a side note, if both object have the same Tileset Priority
then what ever Map Layer they are on take priority.

(I hope that makes sence, cause sometimes I don't)

Wow, alright thanks a bunch! Despite all these years I've spent with RM I'm surprised I didn't know this :/ lol but anyway thanks again, I understand, it makes perfect sense. Thank you once again :D
