To not have an entirely empty workshop here's my very first spriting work. (More like an exercise on shading)

Hey, lookin' good for a first attempt, Zeri! I like the texturing, although could I suggest more whorls and knots and things of that nature? Wood has a distinct grain to it; try checking out a few pictures. Also, the black outline looks out of place. Go for a dark brown on the underside and a lighter brown on the top. Finally, the palette! It could use some more contrast, and instead of just getting lighter, put more yellow in the lighter shades and more blue in the darker ones. But yes, good job! :3

Thanks a lot Führer for helping me improve. I'll try to improve it with your words in the back of my head.
I definitely will look closely at the structure wood. My desk is made from wood after all.

Zeriab that log is quite good :3 although as Peri said, it is wood and should have some woodlike features ... maybe some sticks or stubs jutting out?

Here's a new version

I have added color to the palette for the edge against the light.
I was unsure how to best make the texturing so I need some help in pointing out which part of the log has the best texturing. Any help will be appreciated :3

I still need to shade the hair.
