I never understand what people mean by a 'big' resolution. 640x480 is a big resolution because it makes pixels appear really big. and 2048x1536 is 'big' because.. well.. the megapixel count is insane. words I would use to disambiguate it are 'low' and 'high' or 'coarse' and 'fine', respectively.
Anyway, according to my boredom*calculations, my 12.1" laptop screen has a native resolution of 1024x768@106DPI. Compare that to a 17" LCD, which would be 1280x1024@96DPI or a 19" LCD which would be 1280x1024@86DPI or 1440x900@89DPI. Moving on up, 22" LCDs have a native resolution of 1680x1050 of 90 DPI.
The tablet version of my laptop (x61t and x61s, respectively) reaches an insane native resolution of 1400x1050@145DPI - ouch, my eyes!
