Every once in a while I'll look through old sketchbooks of mine that I filled when I was 12, 13, 14 years old. It is both thrilling and agonizing to see how much progress I've made over the years. I refuse to accept that I actually drew some of the things I did and called it "good", or even "passable" for that matter. Some of the monsters I created should have never existed, and serve only to show that I used to be a terrible, terrible artist.
This thread is for posting the horrible things you drew when you were younger. You can post progress drawings if you want but it's mostly for making fun of how awful you used to be, and being proud of how much better you are now.
When I was 11 or 12, I fell into the trap of using anime to learn anatomy. It took many, many years to climb my way out of the hole I had dug for myself. I was that guy who always drew people with the same pose, same facial expression, etc. It wasn't until I was 16 or 17 that I could finally rid myself of the atrocious habits I had become addicted to.
It feels so good to look at these drawings and say to myself, "Oh my god I used to suck."
Also I went though an Earthbound phase when I was 14 and drew almost nothing but Earthbound characters. It was kind of an obsession.
