Please take a listen to my latest: A Mundane World

I think you've got a catchy tune and it's nice and lively. But, I find it a little bit clustered at times, like there's too much going on - or, it might just be the drum that seems to sound a little rattly, or like static. What program(s) are you using?

Good work!

Oh, I'm using FL Studio 8. Do you have any advice on the use of the program?

I'm gonna make a new version without too much of the repeated main theme. I think that's what you mean by the clustering, right?

I use FL Studio 6, but I don't need anything more than that because I only use it for sequencing and not for sounds. By clustering I just mean there might be too much happening at once that can't be distinguished. It's like if I have someone playing a trombone on middle C, and someone else playing a french horn on middle C, and a third person playing a tuba on middle C all at the same time, it's really hard to tell which instruments are playing. I can't say without looking at it but I'm suspecting that you may have possibly had 2 instruments that sound similar on top of each other and I'm having trouble distinguishing them, so they sort of mesh together and it just sounds a bit odd. But I'd like to hear it again once you've got your new version for sure, it's a great start.

As for Fruity Loops, I just sort of taught myself so I can't really offer any decent advice... unless there's something specific you're having trouble with. You should consider trying to get your hands on VSTi samples to try it out, because it's so much more fun working with realistic instruments. Since I was selling my music and wanted to be 100% legit, I went out and purchased Symphonic Orchestra Gold Pro XP for $1300.00 (several years ago), but I didn't make that investment before downloading it to try it out. You could consider doing that and you'll see a huge improvement from the sound quality.

That being said, midi-style music might be more suitable for RPG maker games than a symphony is.

Anyway, here's a post with some of my own work if you're interested: viewtopic.php?f=93&t=62732

i can definitely agree on the cluttered feel of having both pianos at once. However, i do this as well, so i can't judge @_@

anyway, the main hook is awesome, but you seemed to have relied on it a tad too much. as far as i'm concerned the pianos were only sounding a bit 'too much' together at the beginning, and it wasn't really a bother near the end where you started changing things up. in fact, the ending melodies were really cool, and really ended the track well.

i'm not sure what the sine-y overdrive synth was that you used, but you definitely used it to good effect.

anyway; take zephstudios advice and check out some VSTs if you're interested in some higher quality sounds. theres lots of good ones out there, and even quite a few really great freeware ones.

Cruelty, thank you very much for your comment! I'll take it into consideration while making the new version.

Zeph (If I may call you that.)

My god, your songs are incredible! The instruments, the melody, it's just...well...incredible!

I really NEED that symphony thing you were talking about! Does it really cost $1,300? I don't have nearly that kind of money! (Looks at small box with 70 bucks in it.)

Dude, you are amazing. Simple as that.

I like it. It has a nice quality to it. I also agree about the piano being a little too complicated. Some parts felt like a mess of notes. I didn't see a time readout on the box.net player so I can't tell you exactly which parts. I also think changing the melody more would help to loosen things up a little. In regards to the sound quality, it sounded muddy. Nothing distractingly bad but I think if you boost the high end and drop the mid range a little you might get a clearer sound. All in all it's a nice song!
