Pixel Challenge 3: GBC Game!

I don't know what to do about all the empty space. I'm trying to think of what details to add - I doubt the mushrooms and the yellow things are going to work...

EDIT: Ugh, I just noticed how horrible the palette is... this isn't going to work. Palettes were never my strong suit.
 
piggman that looks nice, but the perspective on the cliff is bugging me. The rear corners make it look like there is no elevation. I would suggest you make the actual cliff part go at a downward angle, instead of horizontally.

Er, just so you know, there's no transparency in GBC tiles. Well, you could use sprite palettes if you wanted, but I don't think it's really necessary. Up to you, though.

Coyote, nice start! Abreaction, you have too many colors on those flowers unless you're using sprites instead of tiles.

Ahhh, I finished it, but danyo34 pointed out I didn't understand the rules and about every tile has 5-8 colors in it -_- soooo, I'm not going to join or enter anything, maybe nextime...

Anyway, everyones is looking good. Shame I didn't read this topic sooner, I was working on a sci fi platform mock up at the exact same time as the first competition was on :P

EDIT: Oh, by the way coyotecraft, the charter stone looks a bit too much like an egg to me. But other than that it looks incredible.
 
Aww, you figured it out. I just finished reading it again last weekend so it was all I could think of doing. I'll try making the stone more cylindrical.

looking good, guys! I'm gonna do what I can to avoid sitting on my ass this entire time, too.




this sheet includes blatant self-insertion, although I can't tell if I made my hair and jacket orange by mistake. maybe being colourblind wasn't the best decision I ever made.

not a whole lot done yet. basic linework and some character sprites. I'm going for something that more or less approximates HUB Mall at the U of A.

specifically, the Cookies by George. my biggest mistake so far is having the shop set into the wall -- oops.

I didn't do this on a grid, and I did some decorating post-placement, so I need to redo some things. But this is basically what I'm going for, minus some coral and other decor. :D

Yeah, seeing as how I just got to Japan again I don't think I'm gonna have time to finish now. Lame! But at least I got something made this time. Hooray! :D
 
Here's what I've managed to put together:



There aren't any sprites because I've just been very busy. I've found out that making good-looking gbc graphics for a full game would be really tough, because I used 8, half of the available palettes for a full game, in this screen alone.
 
Dropping this off here. I forgot about the gird when rearranging stuff but it's probably close enough.

I'm getting tired of scenes and tileset. I'd like to do character animation next.
Attacking animation > idle pose. I suppose an explosion would be challenging too.
