Piggman's stuff

I know how much some of you guys love seeing anime stuff so I'm adding my stuff here too! (yes, that was sarcasm, just in case that was lost in it's textual context) But, that is kind of the style I'm going for in my game so that's what it is.

Adele:
Stuff I notice: akward leg position, (i think one is actually longer than the other with the way I drew it), armor on feet is lol worthy, overall I think it turned out well though. Purposefully left handed, yes.

Eventually I hope to use character illustrations like this throughout the game. The actual illustration is 2x this size, so I can use it however I want in the game. Feel free to give criticisms on it, but at this point it's unlikely to change. I will use any advice I get when I go to work on the other character illustrations though. (And on other art too of course.)

I'll update as I get more.

in the spoiler it just says "Image" and theres no images

It seems to be working fine for me. Did you try refreshing the page? If it's not working for someone else I can try re-uploading, but as far as I can tell the link isn't broken.

yeah works fine now, loading

hmm, her head is a bit lopsided... well, shes just generally not very accurate anatomically, her hips seem to be a bit skewed and her left(your right) wrist look unnatural, like its broken, the hands, at least the left hand doesnt look like its holding the sword, it kinda looks like its just lazily resting on the handle. it also looks like the angle of the sword was chosen to hide her right hand, and from what i can see peeking out from behind it i can see why, you need to work on hands and just anatomy in general, step back from the drawing a bit and look at the general proportions while youre drawing and try not to get tunnel vision.

as far as the coloring its not bad

Wow. the color and the detail is very good and pretty clean.
great!

because, the way she bears the sword looks unnatural
maybe the sword is better if it facing down rather than facing up.

for the feet, maybe you can use it as a reference

sorry for a bad grammar.

@Gulch666
I can see where her head is lopsided, especially if you look at the difference in the curves at each side of her cheeks. I wish I would have caught that earlier, but this might be something that actually warrants an edit if possible. Her waist looks okay to me, especially given the armor, maybe explain or give an example of this to me? Personally I think her left wrist (or lack of) is worse than her right. The sword does look like it's falling out of her hand a bit, definately should have went with a tighter grip (and what can I say, hands are still a weak point and I need more practice). The angle of the sword wasn't chosen for that reason, but I can see where your getting that.

@Iceblue
Thanks for the compliments! I do think you are right, she is holding the sword at an odd position. Thank you for the references, those will actually be pretty useful!

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to post some critiques.

That is pretty well done. I like the detail and coloring.

Since you already know about the odd leg positioning, I won't repeat anything someone else said. Ok, this might be just because I just woke up, but it seems to me like her right cheek is slightly swollen, if this was done for perspective, I think you overdid it just a tad. It doesn't really affect much, but since you want critiques I figured I'll point it out.

Overall it's awesome, and I'd love to see more.

Yeah, it is. I think that is what Gulch was seeing when he pointed out her head seemed a bit lopsided. Luckily I think that's going to be something that's fixable without a lot work.

And thanks, hopefully I'll have more up eventually, but right now I'm back to working on the actual game play side of things for awhile. I'll update this post when I get more though!

ok what im saying at about the waist/hips, if you follow her right leg up from the foot all the way up it looks right, but if you do the same with her left, her leg looks broken in the knee, and the angle the thigh goes up to her hip is off, like her pelvis is lopsided, her left thigh is too short and it looks like her femur hooks into the hip socket too low.

if you can picture a skeleton inside her figure youll see what im talking about. like her right femur hooks into the pelvis right below the belt, which is right and her left one hooks in about 6-7 inches too low.

heres a quick 30 second deal i tossed together to show you what i mean

Or, she could simply have really bad posture. I've seen people slouch slightly to the side when leaning on one foot or the other, and it looks very similar to that. Also, the feet are out of alignment, but if you had moved the legs to the proper angle and left the feet as is, you'd have another posture/movement disorder. Specifcally, one that pops up mostly in kids who end up sitting on their legs too much instead of sitting in the "indian position" or whatever the politically correct way to say it is. When that happens, they may end up twisting the alignment on the legs and feet so that their feet point in instead of out, which takes years to correct. But, the legs are not in the same direction as the feet, so the discussion is a moot point anyway.

And, to be honest, if you really wanted to be technical about body shape and structure, the legs and arms are too thin and too long. She would have difficulty walking and standing up, just like a Barbie would if it were alive. Although I'll write off the tourquoise eyes and red hair as artistic style, since anime has done a lot worse to us in the past.
