PHP&MYSQL problems

I've been learning PHP and it came to the point where I have to use MYSQL with it but I have no idea how to use MYSQL. The tutorials i read tell me to make a table but don't say how.
so,
Does anyone know a good tutoiral or a free book that teaches how to use PHP with MSQL in-depth?

I use http://www.php.net 's documentation. It has all the functions including examples on there.

In this case, I'd look under the "Function Reference" and would find "MySQL functions" (http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.mysql.php) then I'd scroll down to "Examples" and I'd study and use trial and error to learn.
