Phantasy Star: Zero (DS) vs. Ragnorok DS

Awesome Bro

Hey there, just getting opinions on which game you would like better, Phantasy Star: Zero (DS) or Ragnorok DS?

I have played a bit of both, but due to the fact they are both in Japanese atm, I can't read/understand to much of it. Both games look great though, their gameplay videos
say it all. Just want to see what other people think about MMOs on the DS.

Oh, and they are releasing Maple Story DS, I personally hate Maple Story, but I guess the younger audience here suites it well.

cheeeers....

oh, bring back the old smiles!

I can't say I've gotten too far in either but I like phantasy star more.

Btw, these technicaly are not MMO's.

They just have co-op wifi (as far as I can tell)

I'm not sure how I feel about that sort of thing on the DS. most mmorpgs are incredibly weak from a gameplay perspective, and on a portable you can't very well be expected to always have a connection to nintendo wfc. ragnarok and maplestory are particularly awful candidates for anything single-player unless they really give things a boost.

then again, most regular rpgs suck for the same reasons, but they do a better job of pretending you're getting something accomplished.

how exactly are these things going to work, anyway? about halfway through this post I realized that I know nothing about the subject aside from "they are mmorpgs on a ds."

Ok, I've played it offline and online, even though I can't read japanese...

it's great, the wifi play is fun, although you can't enter your own messages (nintendo's way of keeping games esrb ratings kid safe?), but the battle system rocks! There are a TON of things to collect, much like the console games.

I've been trying to work with this patched english version of ragnarok, but it just doesn't work. oh well...

Either way, these are both better titles than Maple Story DS!

Oh crap, maple story *shudder*
i remember when i thought that was fun.... a long time ago.
I've only read a manga series named Regnerock, and that's enough to know what it's about. ( i even got it goin in my story, regnerock.) But anyways, The viritual console Phantasy Star's are greatly apraised in my magazine. It would probably do well on ds (although i'm not a big fan of anything "scifi" or stuff) I don't know enough to criticize, but i think Phantasy Star would probably work well. I am a fan of Regnerock, so i'd go straight to that (only the manga series though.) But still, look at the praise! Look at the facts. Phantasy star looks like a much better title.

Cheers!

With three races, 6 classes, over 100 weapons, armors, items, monsters in varrying enviorments, it ends up being fun. It seems like there is a great story line in there...Dunno really...

Thanks for the great reply LonelyElf!

Thanks
6 classes isn't alot. but as long as it has an elf or something relative to an elf, I'm playing it. XD Of course, I've never played it. I 'm gonna look it up.... and then i am remembered that my internet sucks.... *sigh*
hmmm, there isn't much left to say.

\updated stats i found:
1-4 players via wi-fi (you have to have friends i think, can't just play randomly)
A chat system for online.
I think there's a campaign mode too. (the story mode.) most likely

Hmmm, the DS release in America is most likely in march. it makes sense since it came out in japan recently.

well, that's all i have. we'll just have to wait until the release to find out if it is good or not.

Cheers (you could say i like posting)

Why?

Anyways, There are 8 levels, with varying degrees of difficulty. You unlock levels in solo mode, following the story line, and then unlock the levels as you progress! There are some fun levels, and as well as a Super Hard Mode, this game is gearing up to be a heavy hitter!

1-4 wifi is good, pretty streamline...most times you won't get 4 players, but its all good.

Honestly the only thing that cheeses me off is the message system. You have about 16 phrases that
you can display on screen via wifi, both in Japanese and English, the only great part about that system.

There could have been more monsters, but they throw in a rare mob once in a while.
