Persona 3

I don't use Thanatos anymore anyway :( Once you have Lucifer and Satan that is....
The problem persona that I want him to be really really useful is
Messiah. Fuse Thanatos with Orpheus, and in my save they both have crappy skills. So I got this Messiah with "Agi" lol. My Messiah turned out to be just a persona that I use to collect secret items = =;

@ Those who clear the game
Have you try to fight Elizabeth? She's...so cheap!!! Grrrr!!!

@Yum
You were right when you said that make me look mysterious lol.

@Fafnir
It's ok if you don't know Japanese. There are many people who enjoy this game even though they don't know Japanese at all. People are nice and are willing to help you out :) And this game is not really about grinding either. It's more about your playing skill. The quests are also not that boring and there are actual story in it. I also recommend you to play SMT:Nocturne If you like Persona 3. The game is more difficult and will take you a long time but you will really really enjoy it XD

Messiah is on a whole pretty bad. Thanatos has much better chances at a good movepool, because he simply has more options with five personas going in him. Messiah has 2. If you want a healer, there are better healers(that don't have to rely on salvation which, despite being great and all, costs a whopping 60SP), and if you want an attacker, there are better attackers(Thanatos is one of them, along with the big mages like Odin and Surt. If you want to go all the way, use Lucifer and Satan, which makes the game too boring, IMO). Messiah pretty much sucks, sadly.

Atleast there's Orpheus Kai.

And I'd get Nocturne, if it weren't 200 dollars + on Amazon, and not a single videogame store still has a copy. That's the thing about Atlus games, sadly...

Wait, you get Orpheus Kai in English version? I thought that's only in FES O_O;

As for me, I've always loved Vishnu and Shiva. So I use them :) Heck, I even use them in Nocturne lol. They're really handy both for healing/dealing dmg. As for physical damage dealer...I use Wu Kong(Seitentaisei) as I fused him to become immune to all physical damage(Abadon is also good, since he block all physical damage too.)

Lucifer and Satan are for Monado, I think. Imagine going up there all alone to fight Elizabeth without Armageddon, that would be way too difficult @_@;

No you don't get Orpheus Kai. Also, you can only fight Elizabeth in a New Cycle.

Persona 3 is really weird... I always use a Power Charge / Freikugel or Godslayer build in the other games... but now my main acts as a mage along with Mitsuru shelling out 600+ damage both... while Aegis and Akihiko both do offensive/ defensive support spells.

Anyway like I said before, I love Skadi... and hopefully I'll get a Scatach for megaten online :F

EDIT: On a side note, I'm kinda' disappointed with the Majin... Mother Harlot and Trumpeter were rather weak compared to their Nocturne Maniacs counterparts, and Pale Rider was like level 20? (Or something. lol still) Plus, no more Nocturne style attributes (Immune to all phys lol) I understand it was done for balance though so whatever.

Fighting Elizabeth without Armageddon? It'll be all like Hitoshura in DDS again XDXD

CRAP! EVEN MORE EDIT: @ Fafnir if you liked the tragic ending so much you must read the lyrics for the ending theme... aww heck I'll post it here from gamefaqs:

Memories of You
Voices of the wind and beads of light I let flow to you
I won't forget your gentle smile sadness hidden in your eyes
Even if wishing is painful, you gave me courage to stand up
So I'll go; we'll meet again when you awake in your dream

I hold faraway memories to my heart and sing

You protected this empty, wavering world with your own hands
So now just fold your wings and sleep peacefully
Enveloped in eternal tranquility, love through all eternity
Sleep within these hands, gently watching over you
I remember you, laughing, crying, getting angry
I'll never forget, ever, until my life is exhausted

From the intersection I heard a voice like yours
I turned and looked towards the sky, holding back my tears
Tomorrow, some day
I believe I'll see you again, and wander alone
On rainy nights, I keep waiting for a sunny morning

I won't forget the nights we ran through

In dazzling, shining moments we were all together
I spent them without realizing how precious they were
Now, to remember them fondly I will embrace the feeling
You were right there with me
Always always always you were smiling there beside me
Even if I lose you I'll get you back I will never leave you

You protected this empty, wavering world with your own hands
So now just fold your wings and sleep peacefully
Enveloped in eternal tranquility, love through all eternity
Sleep within these hands, gently watching over you
I remember you, laughing, crying, getting angry
I'll never forget, ever, until my life is exhausted

In dazzling, shining moments we were all together
I spent them without realizing how precious they were
Now, to remember them fondly I will embrace the feeling
You were right there with me
Always always always you were smiling there beside me
Even if I lose you, I'll get you back, I will never leave you

Scatach sure has a very nice design. I do hope they put them in megaten online too. I'm already happy that they bring Artemis back XD

What do you mean by New Cycle? A 2nd playthrough?

BTW, just got the English version today :) Hoorey! Although I have to play it all over again from the start, but this time it's feel so different lol. Especially Mitsuru's voice...it's feel weird comparing to the Japanese one.
The Japanese one is...calmer and softer I think. English voice makes she sounds too harsh :/
And they use Spanish instead of English for her right? Or is it French? In Japanese version she sometime speak in English word.

Anyway, I think they did a very good job on Yukari, Junpei and Akihiko's voices. Especially Akihiko, it sounds like the Japanese seiyuu himself speak in English lol I was really really surprised. XD

[EDIT]
@Yum
You were right about the Majin. I was really dissapointed too, especially in Mother Harlot. Her design is SO COOl! But look at her...although I don't really use her but I just can't get her out of my persona list lol. Oh well, at least you can get them MUCH easier than in Nocturne Maniac :(

Too bad I haven't meet Hitoshura in DDS yet...haven't got time to play it again :( But I still have the save file so I might go back and try it.

[MORE EDIT]
Yeah the ending theme song is kinda sad :( Have you heard the Orchestra version yet? It's really really powerful. It's in the special OST. Burn My Dread full version is also in that album.

Yep, 2nd Play through for new cycle.

Yeah I agree with the voice actors... I like all of 'em really.

Mitsuru speaks french at times. And I rather like her being more harsh, bossy and demanding.

Akihiko exhudes coolness. Junpei is just ****ing funny. Yukari's very convincing as a normal girl.

EDIT: Haven't listened to it... Not yet -_- I want it though... time to go a searching for it then... Too bad my school term's coming up and I'm gonna' be busy again. Less time for megaten T_T

MORE EDIT: Lol though, I like how much more peaceful it is here compared to the currently burning Final Fantasy 12 forum... The distinctions between the discussions are as clear cut as the games themselves...

AND EVEN MORE EDIT: Just listened to the Reincarnation tracks and loving each and every one of them... Reminds me of Meguro in the older games i.e. more Techno Rock than weird orchestral (Nocturne) or pure metal (DDS). I just love all of the tracks T_T... especially the remix of Mass Destruction, It's like a crossover track between Nocturne, Persona 2 and Persona 3... and the vocals are harder hitting than in the original

Damn... that song is pretty much Aigis...

Speaking of her, I'm very glad that, near the end, she ended up becoming her own character, and not just another knockoff of KOS-MOS(although their 'transformations' were similar in a sense, by the end of their respective games, they are very different characters). I don't know who I feel worse for in the end... MC or Aigis...

They should have killed Ken instead. Unlike MC, that little bastard deserved it.

Anyway, I'm a little bit interested in MTOnline... is it a simple game to get into? Also, is it the kind of game that someone can play for half an hour and still feel accomplished? Lastly, can you get Jack Frost(That guy helped me out for like... half the game... awsome persona... so cool too)? I think I may try it a bit, mabey when I'm done my homework...

Well, in Japanese version her speaking style change so much that I kinda miss her "de arimasu" , since she will end almost every sentences with that. How is that work in English? I haven't played up to that point yet and I won't be able to play it on weekdays either...dang I probably need to buy myown PS2 :( (The one I'm playing right now is my dad's)

As for MTOnline, it is easy to get into, especially if you like megaten series. What do you mean by feeling accomplished? Personally, the game is not boring to me. The enemies are well balance. There are both strong and weak enemies mixed in the area, depending on when and where you are in the area. So it's not like "OMG this town is full of crappy monster and the next town monsters are too tough WTH?"

And yes Jack Frost is in there :D I have him hehe, although don't really use him right now as I want someone who can heal me. He's also in the first area that you'll be in the game so just gaining some levels and you'll be able to use him.

The only thing I dislike about this game is how they let you download the client :/ The whole game is like 2GB and you have to download the downloader they provide you, and use that downloader to download the whole game. So, no pause and resume, which is kinda of suck for people who live in slow internet speed country like me :'(

By 'accomplishment' I mean as in, you don't have to feel like you're doing nothing when you only want to play for a short period.

@ hima: Aigis never uses short, casual forms like: "It's" or "I'll" or "You'll"... it's always longer like "It is" or "I will" or "you will"...

@ Fafnir: Yes, you can finish a dungeon in 30 minutes - 1 hour and level up 2-3 times. Every time you level up you get the option to recruit/ fuse more demons of course which you add to your ever changing arsenal.

You're always doing something: If not doing quests, you're in a dungeon clearing it. And the game has cinematics 8-) so it feels like a console megaten game. Plus, the bosses are cool and all that so yeah, I guess you can get a sense of accomplishment for 1 hour of play.

Does anybody try Persona 3 Korean version or know anything about it? I've seen it on Play-asia while I was going to order P3 artbooks. They have both P3 and P3 Fes in Korean version! I'm so jealous :'( This would never happen with Thailand. Anyway, I was just curious that whether the voice acting would be in Korean also. It's interesting isn't it? Would be fun to listen to all the characters talk in Korean XD

It's most likely either been translated to Korean or it's been heavily edited. Normally when there's a specific "version" to a country they'll ammend the crap out of it like the Australian version of Grand Theft Auto 3 that supposedly removed all the blood and cursing.

I really loved this game. During the New Year festival when the Memories of the City music cued up I realized it was one of the best experiences I had in a RPG in a long time. Even though it was a rental from GameFly for me I decided to purchase it to keep it in my collection. Who knows? I may actually come back and play it again (a rarity for me).

Right near the end he charmed Mitsuru and Ken and they cast Diahran on her. I literally screamed when that happened. I had to run their MP into the ground so when Nyx started casting that move again they wouldn't be able to heal her.

EDIT: I just got the case in the mail and I was pleasantly surprised to find it came with an artbook and the ost! Bonus!

As for the final boss:

At level 95 each form of Nyx dies in one salvo of attacks anyway... and only Nyx Death is the real problem... which ceases to be a problem when you've got Lucifer/ Satan. And it's not hard to get to level 95 if you use the Monad Deep Zone.

But yeah, right after New Year, the soundtrack goes into full gear like I said - vintage Meguro with all the piano and rock you could ask for.

Hima what is hitoshura's akuma in your avatar?

P.S. I hate how they removed Makakaja and merged it with Tarukaja. I really do.

And it was rather refreshing that they used the old surrealist ultra-geometric polygon bombardment Nocturne style during the final FINAL battle... I've been missing that for quite a while now. It wasn't in DDS or Kuzunoha Raidou....

How's Devil Summoner? I saw some trailers, and the battle system looked pretty cool(is it action based?). Although I hear the encounter rate is pretty killer...

It's the cheapest of the SMT games, and I've become a bit interested in the series(although not interested enough to shell out $150+)

@Yum
That is...me. I drew that pic lol. It's my mascot begging him to be one of his nakama army :P So you can call it Tako Himatako XD

@Fafnir
DDS is not action based, the battle system is pretty much like Nocturne. Except that instead of talking to demons and recruit them, you eat them. Yeah, literally. You eat them in order to be stronger and get new skills :)

The one that is action based is Kuzunoha Raidou. The battle system in that game is like Tales series where there's a random encounter but in battle scene you gain full control of your character (But not your demon.)

I think you can find the games pretty cheap on Play-asia.net.

@ Fafnir about Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou...

To sum it up? It's a cute game, the demon's all have nice personalities... but you can't negotiate with them unlike in vanilla SMT. You can however capture them using tubes and use them to interact with the environment and stuff. It's also action based and the encounter rate really is just standard for a megaten game (Except Persona 3 didnt have random encounters) and I really like the soundtrack. It's a fun romp through pre world war II Tokyo - I mean in what other game do you get to play in that era? Overall I'd stick to my initial statement - it's a cute game. Worth the buy if you're a fan of megaten or you want something different from your regular RPGs. Especially worth the buy if you love the demons and their quirky personalities as much as I do. (Damn cute Mou Shuvuus and Oboroguruma)

And addressing Digital Devil Saga... It's pretty much like Final Fantasy did it with Megaten. Story is amped up, the skills follow a grid system and... well... it was a bit too linear, saccharine and fantasy-ish for my tastes but it was still fun while it lasted. It had its share of epic battles, and let's face it, I play megaten for the fun battles. No demon fusion/ negotiation though - I had to live with that.

I'd still recommend Nocturne though, I think it's worth shelling out $150. Hell, for the best RPG in the world (in my opinion at least) $150 would be pretty cheap. If you're still not interested then think about it this way, I feel that Nocturne is worth 3-5 Persona 3s. That's just my opinion though. I really like political /ideological warfare interspersed with heavy demon combat in modern and surreal environments with multiple endings accompanied by a wicked techno/ rock /orchestral soundtrack (Kagutsuchi 2nd Form track just rules)... as you create the world you wish to create.

Or! you can play megaten online with me and hima Fufufufufufu.

EDIT: @ hima: And I thought mothman was lame T_T just kidding.

Shit though, I can't find my dreamcast and I wanna' play Maken X again...

Ok, jumping in and not reading ANYTHING because I don't want it spoiled for me (just bought it last night)

MAXEN X WAS A SHIN MEGAMI TENSI GAME?!?!?

How are you able to play megaten online? (I WANNA TOO)

And the SMT is my fave series of all time, everything about them...but I, too, need to find Nocturene.
