I'm trying to get in the habit of drawing more, so I figure I'd go ahead and make a thread! I drew a couple things today:

Random bird lady. The wings are weird, I know.

Character from my game. The hairstyle changed a little, so I drew some new portraits.

I'll post more when I have more.

My friend is running a Madoka tabletop game that I decided to play in (that show is srsly really good you should all see it), and we were all doing character designs, so of course they had to be animu. I have never drawn an animu before and probably never will again. The weird proportions freak me out. And now I feel vaguely...dirty somehow...

It's still really sloppy in places, but whatever. Not the best thing I've ever drawn, but bacon told me to post it, so I did!!! I was trying to match this art style:

I'm also drawing a character art for my buddy, but it's not quite done yet.

Hey these look really nice peri!

That first one is my favorite of them all, mainly because it's the most original of them all. And yeah, the wings DO look weird at first. I think I figured it out though, the wings are attached to her arms and not her back correct?

But anyway, the portrait you posted is good as well. Although I liked her old design, for some reason she looks a lot older now.

I'm not really an authority on anime style, but that is one of the better ones I've seen. As for the overall design, I like it. Nice day/night combination going on there. So yeah besides being a little sloppy like you said it's damn sexy.

The wings are attached to her arms, yes. I like that one too. I might pixel it. I'm planning on drawing more kind of offbeat things in that vein, too.

Yeah, she does look a bit older, but she's in her 30s, and I think the old one was kind of young-looking. All I really did was lengthen the hair a bit and give her bangs. I think it makes her look a bit more serious too.

Character portrait for a friend. I was gonna draw more of this but couldn't figure out what to do with his arms, so meh. He's some kind of evil communist scientist cyborg or something.

You're pretty good, Peri! I like your style. Whenever I try to go that route, apparently my art still looks anime-ish.

I definately like what you are drawing, though! Your anime doodle is kind of freaky. I think it's the eyes. o.o But ah wells, you're still good at art.

Yeah, the eyes are freaky and soulless. It was super creepy-looking when I had it doing a :D expression. Anime is harder than it looks! But idrc because I'm not planning on drawing any more. I think her legs are positioned wrong too, but meh.

... sort of.

I really love the bald head though, it looks great and has a cool style.

The female one you drew in the first post however, it seems off... like her facial features are in the wrong position and aren't lined up properly or something, and her nose in the sideview seems, well, not too big (Maybe it does, who knows) but just... out of place.

Hrm, the nose might be a little high in the side view. I'm not sure I see what you mean about the front view. :s The mouth is stretched a little because she's supposed to be smirking a bit. Is that what's bothering you? Hmm, I could move the mouth over a bit.

Yeah when I look over it, it's definitely the mouth that throws me off, it just seems odd as if one side is longer than the other, like you said, it's stretched because she's meant to be smirking, I just... don't see it, lol. Maybe it's just me though?

I don't know if you were intentionally drawing him, but there is a good reference for you. I always found it fascinating how the founder of the Church of Satan actually looks like some form of a demonic DBZ character. Then again, that's probably art imitating life rather than visa-versa :D

Same here, I used to be good at drawing manga but I've let myself go, also these days I prefer more of realism drawings than cartoons, I was wondering what you used to draw the portrait of your character and the "Dragon-Ballz Lavey-dude" as I want to get into using my tablet a lot more its now a dust collecter from its active days ( it was hard getting used to so I kind of gave up ) I'm used to the very traditional pencil and paper, I cant even paint for sh!t but if time grants me I'll learn someday.

Anyways cool sketches and keep em' comming! :rock: p.s on the first sketch of your character its defiantly the nose, its too far out and the nose-trill is a little too long but all in all its still a great portrait, theirs nothing wrong with the mouth smirk imo it fits the style and face ( alternatively for the side-view one you can move the mouth a bit more out if changing the nose is too bothersome ).

Hey, thanks, guys! Yeah, I used Photoshop for the sketches with brush size set to pressure. I drew another dude in charcoal and will post it when I can be bothered taking a picture.
