Pause Timer During Battle?

Hey everyone,

I apologize if there is already a thread/tutorial about this. I looked thoroughly before deciding to post.

Basically, I want to make a timer that pauses and/or disappears during battles, but that resumes afterwards. There is a function to store the timer in a variable, but no apparent function to reset the timer to that variable afterwards. Is there an easy way to make this kind of timer?

I would prefer that the timer not be visible during battles, but then become visible again after the battle is finished. If it's easier to just stop the timer and leave it visible, then I'd settle for that.

It was more the other way around. If the timer didn't have to be visible at all. That would have been much easier.

Either way I suggest you make a variable based timer.
You have a common event on Parallel trigger. After waiting for 20 frames (60 frames I think if you are using RMVX) it decreases the variable by one.
Common events on parallel trigger do not run during combat.
You can display pictures to show the timer if you really want. It just require quite a bit of work.
I would suggest having the variable timer display in a separate common events so it would be easier to make the timer blink if you want to do that.
