Panorama... moving?

Okay, I would like to know if there is a way to make a panorama move the same way as a fog would move.

What would I use this for?

Well, let me explain...

I had an idea for a "warp room" a few days ago, (it fits with my game) and it has a lot of warp doors that go to different places.

It is inside, and the doors that warp are set to transparent (in game, they would show the panorama)

I would like to make the panorama move really, really fast, to give the effect that if you step through that door... you will be swept away...

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

The problem with an image animation... is that I would have to make it ^_^

It would be easier (not to mention look smoother... and more than 4 frames) to just place a picture in the background, and then scroll it sideways really, really fast.

You can make an image animation with more than four frames.

I think it would be more difficult to use a custom script for moving a panorama quickly than it would be to use a an image animation.

It can be done easily by animating a custom characterset - then, you would have 16 frames; or by using multiple charactersets, you can have an unlimited number of frames.

That way you wouldn't need to install/configure any kind of special script.

I think that would be the best option. But, that's just my opinion.

But that is not what I am requesting ^_^

I have tried to make a charset of it, and even with the 16 frames, it still looks... laggy. (like the fires... you know how they have 1 frame, then a slight pause and then the next one?)

I already have the map done as well, and I already have the panorama that I want in there.

It only moves when the screen moves, so I would like a script that moves the panorama.

Then, I could just put the script move rate very high, and I get exactley what I am looking for.

The moving panorama would work much better then the charsets, and I think it would be a little easier to make as well. ^_^

I posted this in the Support section, because I thought it would be a simple, one line script (Like $scene.panorama.move(130,0))
Where the X movement would be the 130, and the Y would be the 0.

Then I could set it all.

I am pretty sure you can do it this way with fogs... why not panoramas?

Thanks!

(BTW, installing and configuring a script? What, copy-paste the script into RMXP? not really that hard... :D)

Indeed, there's a scrolling panorama script somewhere in the script section. But it's really easy to script, if you can't find it or you want something different, I can make one for you. :thumb:
