Oxford...

Oxford also has a Debauchery Society, but I don't know exactly what they do - my guess would be to get fuck drunk, smash up some village pub and then sodomise each other. Cool. I'm determined to go to Oxford, but I just got my GCSE results and out of ten As only four of them were A*s, and it seems like in two years time you'd need ten :(

Stares in disbelief...A girl in my school got 8 A*'s and the rest A's 10 in total plus a citizenship certificate, another person girl or boy couldn't be fucked to find out who got 10 A*'s (Oxford will welcome her with open arms in 2/3 years).

Apparently A-level success is no indication of Degree success....Just like GCSE success is no indication of A-Level success.... And SATs success is no indication of GCSE success... And of course no examination reflects job success

Makes you wonder what we've been doing all these years.

I got a U at GCSE ICT but am doing a Btec IT practitioners in software, I love this system XD.

What's that you got a U in ICT, yea my teacher didn't hand in my shitty 6 page coursework.

What's that a U is still terrible, well everyone in my school got either a A/A* or a G actually there were two A's and one A*.

Why the hell is everyone in this script at A/A* level! I got four D's and eight GCSE's (somehow) I'm sure that someone on these forums got average results like me. Oxford is a bit too high for my to hope to get in buuuuuuut as Igno said GCSE success isn't connected to A level success there's still hope.

Does anyone here live near/in London I feel so lonely...

I didn't say that :p I said "apparently".

Some of the education system is really screwed up. I mean, I loved my school - but I wasn't allowed to stay on to the Sixth Form because I didn't get straight A*. I got an A in Maths. I suck at Maths. They wouldn't let me stay on to do an English Language A-level... :| About 10 of us who wanted to continue got rejected in this way.

My sixth form required 5 Cs to obtain entry.
My A levels followed the pattern of my GCSE reults solid if unspectacular.
Hopefully I can lift my game somewhat at degree level.

Ouch, that's pretty strict, my school pretty much anyone who gets G or above gets into sixth form. =)

It was 5 Cs everywhere I looked, 5 As or Bs to do a fifth or sixth A level where I went. But I do know people who got straight A*s at GCSE and As at A level.

My cousins go to a private school several thausand a year and me and my brother do much better and we went to public schools.

There was a report on the news a while back that said that going to a private school doesn't improve your grades, it's only because they have more money to spend on the learning. But shouldn't that balance itself out anyways I think it depends on the persons ability to learn and the teachers ability to teach cos even the worst schools could have some of the best teachers so in certain subjects there could be high pass rates and in others lower ones (what's this got to do with anything). Anyways what was the subject of this thread *opens first page* that's it the Assassin's Guild.

I thought it was a nationwide standard that you needed 5 Cs for further education? Straight A*s is just fucking mental (unless you are going to a private school, in which case the support you get should guarantee you top grades).

Yeah. Private school for teh world!

The state schools able to maintain that are few and far between. You can practically guarantee that you'll be able to get the right ethos in a private school. And they're better run.

My cousins have been moving around - and unfortunately couldn't get into private school. Since the beginning of term, they've been put into the wrong classes, bullyed, and the youngest has been dragged backwards through a hedge backwards by people twice his age.

They had an article on the BBC Magazine comparing them. I shall see if I can find it.

I have a friend who transfered to my school from an all boys school and he said that there were certain "antics" going in there but I know he aint gay cos he has a fucking *stress this word* fine girl.

~RoarigSasuke (japfagish apparently...)

Thats a good point, I thought all private school kids turned out gay or massively camp?

That's a stereotype - and besides thats not entirely true. And mostly unfounded in the fact that we tend to talk English... *hesitates* properly (You know what I mean ':| That sort of accent).

And I think anyway you're thinking of Boarding School boys. As far as I'm aware, nothing too gay went on at our school. I mean, I turned out all right... :D
