[OOC] The Celestial Domains

This is the OOC thread for the Celestial Domains RP, found here. Please place any and all OOC posts and comments in this thread, instead of in the main thread. Discussions, ideas, and suggestions will all go here.

Feel free to get started now, instead of waiting for the main RP to start.

Also, I feel I should note that this idea is ripped wholesale from a friend, whom I was unable to contact at the time.

No one seems to be posting so I'll kick this thing off, I suppose. (feel free to throw around quotes from the RP thread that may answer my questions.)

In case anyone forgets (or it hasn't been stated clearly yet), where does the whole thing begin? The Realm of the Gods? The World?
And when, exactly?

Also, is this initial foray into the beginnings of the world simply to introduce the characters, or will part of the plot be revealed to pull readers/players into the main story (the part where mortals are played)?

Thank you for your time.

Oh, and one last question before I take my leave: If no one else signs up for this in the next few days, is it canceled?

All right. This will begin on the face of the new planet being created. The gods will gather and begin designing the world. After a certain point, when everyone agrees to move forward, we will move forward to the point where out terrestrials can enter the game. This is intended to move forward under its own momentum, but, occasionally, things can an will happen. If that is the case, it will usually take place in a post unrelated to my characters, and it will be happening in the same sense as what happens in a D&D game when the DM moves things forward. (To make things easier, let's assume that these dictates are coming from "the one" specified in the intro paragraphs)

Also, I'll keep waiting, but, if you think you can get someone to join, go right on ahead. If anyone ends up bowing out later, their characters can be reassigned, put in stasis, or one of a myriad of other potential outcomes provided by the fantasy world.

Am i in this rp or not or didn't you get my reply

Sorry, I thought it went out. Apparently my PMs are still having a bit of trouble. Anyway, you'll have to change a few things. Your mortal's story makes absolutely no sense. I mean, a happy, 628-year-old woodcutter who just lost his family in a raid by a nearby village? Not to mention the fact that not only is a charcoal suit completely out of place for a woodcutter of any era, it is also completely out of place in the apparent time period of the RP, which takes place in the same kind of world as most fantasy novels. (Which means it is very loosely based on Medieval Europe) Now, if he was favored by one of the gods, there would be allowances for anachronisms like that, since the gods could really create just about anything, but as it is, it looks like you didn't really put much thought into him. Your god of war and fire is rather flat, as well. He has no story, no real personality.

As an additional note, the only punctuation marks you used were the occasional period, and what I gave in the template. I would prefer if people posting in the RP could write posts that were easy to follow. Punctuation makes it easier to read the posts.

It's hard starting without seeing what someone else did, first...

Oh well, if my post is horrible, in the RP, just tell me, and we can ignore it... I've never quite gotten into an RP before.
I'm also not sure what I god should talk like. Majestic? Casual?
I'll go with majestic, hope it works. It'll start to sound cheesy a few words in... ^^;

EDIT -- Augh, I can't do it. No matter how I try at it, it doesn't work...
Can someone take the first shot? Maybe DaxisHeart? Your character is the god of sky and such...

I really don't know where to start.

I'll go ahead and start. And it doesn't really matter how your god talks, so long as it's part of the character. I'd avoid any dialects (or ways of talking) that you find difficult to pull off, because that would probably result in inconsistencies and you eventually dropping it for informal speech.

I thought it would be important to note a few things now, before we got much further.

First off, in relation to each other, the gods know about as much as mortals know of each other. (With a few important exceptions) They can't read each other's minds, or predict each other's actions. (Also with a few exceptions) The exceptions to this kind of rule are domain-related. For example, Eolas, being the god of knowledge, knows everything that is currently happening or that has happened in the past. This means that he does know what any other god is thinking. The same goes for a deity with the domain of Mind, if someone wanted to create one.

As for predicting the future, the only god who would have that power is the god of time, and only if time was determined to be immutable. Even fate cannot truly make something preordained, simply because chance and free will can and often do interfere.

Anyway, just some things to think about, and keep in mind.
