Oldschool Favs

Post what games you burned the skin off of your thumbs with when you were a kid.
Mine is DoDonpachi, amazingly hard and insanely difficult game.
I cannot tell you how much money I spent in the arcades on this game after school. If i would have saved it i could buy a car.

If you want to have some oldschool fun I totally suggest downloading this game.

Abadox!!!
The game ruined my eye sight, no joke.
This was the hardest game I've ever played. One hit and you were dead. No continues, and no one ups. You had 3 lives, and each death restarted the level. Enemies were everywhere with and without pattern, and it just ruined my eye sight damn it!
I wear glasses now - see my avatar - because of this damn game...
Screw you Natsume Co.!!!
Scew you and your "Abadox: the inner war"!!!
Screw you cause I still can't beat the game!!!

Bonks Adventure, Splatterhouse, and Blazing Lazers for TG16. Street Fighter II (all ports and especially the arcade), Golden Ax (arcade and sega), Altered Beast, Commando for nes, the original Megaman -you know, when he was still megaman!- kicked my ass!

Oh, and quite a few others.

All the Genesis Sonic games, particularly Sonic 2 (I could beat it so freaking fast, I'd just keep breaking my own records). All the oldschool (and new school) Mario games. Zelda: Link to the Past. Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers for the NES.

Not conventional, but King's Quest and Leisure Suit Larry. I was one of the only kids with a comp back in the day since my dad worked as upper mngmt for IBM. WOW! A 7-3.2" Floppy Disc set! 16 colors??!!! Let me show off the 64kb RAM I have and the newest update to DOS!

I used to program my own games of Snake and Hangman in Basic.

Yeah, I'm a femnerd.

Also @ Sixty, I wear glasses too. I have nothing but video games to thank. Everyone else in my fam has perfect vision.

Attic-Attack on the Spectrum. A weird iso game.
-raises hand- Glasses wearer here too.. It's like eyeballs and tvs aren't meant to be near each other, but they have to be.. I mean.. how else will I get the red key to the red door if i don't stare intently at the screen?!

Ever play a game so long you could see its image burned into your eyes when you closed them? Super Aleste did that to me.. I swear I still get twitches cos of that game.

Sim Ant, Sim Earth, Sim City 2000/Classic are all good.

Metroid 2 I loved, and Kid Icarus.

Gladius, R-Type, Pop 'n Twinbee.

The Ren and Stimpy games for SNES and Genesis :)

Holy crap, YES. That game was ridiculously hard, expecially the level in Ren's mouth. Whew.

Anyone play the 7UP game for the Genesis with that red-dot guy? That was a surprisingly awesome game! What a marketing schill I am ;')

Damn no one's gonna' mention Ristar and Dynamite Headdy? I was a rare Genesis kid when everyone else on the block were SNES kids. Also anyone recall Marco? It was like about this kid who attacks with his soccer ball, if I get the time I'll look for some screenies for all of these games I'm listing.

Ultima VIII and Shinobi 3. Ultima VIII because it was a thinking man's game, and shinobi 3 because it was the tweaked out ADD kid game. I like to think that too many hours at both of these formed me into the tweaked out thinking man I am today.

I played and beat 'Phantasy Star 4' at least 30 times. I don't know why but that game was so irresistible when I younger. It was probably the poorly done anime styled graphics, aha. I also had such a crush on Rika...awkward.

Oh yeah me too other than the awkward rika thing. I think Chaz's helmet hair is what drew me to the game. I swear the thing could take a bullet.

Oh yeah, the Ultima Series. Ultima VII: The Black Gate took up a whole lot of my time as a kid.

U8 was a bit slow for me. I really liked Ultima Underground though, too.
