Old DOS Game, need name

K, so I'm having no luck in finding this game, so I'm going to describe it the best I can.. I'm hoping one of you have played this as well.

So it's a game similar to Rise of Nations, only without the aging (I believe). You start out with a settler (and an explorer or two) and you have to pick a place to settle. You then begin building up your city, gathering resources and trading with the motherland for a while. Then once you feel like you can, you can break off all ties to the motherland (which would obviously upset her, and she would attack you for 3 turns). Then there's all the other things like, making sure you settle near trees, expand your city so it can get gold/ore, then you'd need a water city to do the trading..

It was such a fun assed game. I had it for DOS, but I don't remember what it was called or have any idea how to look it up. Anyone know?

nah, that wasn't it. idk. didn't anyone play any settling dos games way back when? i assumed someone would at least have had an idea on the game, here. i can't imagine there'd be that many settling games back then.. i just don't know how to look them up.

no, it's not oregon trail.. oregon trail isn't like rise of nations. i'm probably going to have to just forget about this game forever

sorry man, most of the dos games i know are side-scrolling adventure games, with the exceptions of an opengl fps called ken's labyrinth.

i don't know if what you are looking for is there, but chances are it might since they have over 500 games. a lot are freeware or shareware, too.

be warned, if you plan to play on vista or windows 7, you will need dosbox.

Colonization?

no, but it's quite similar. the graphics were much more advanced, and had people that you sent around. the game was exactly like rise of nations (in the sense that you had explorers to uncover the map, you built towns and upgraded them, etc), but without the advancement of time.

You can't possibly mean Civilization, can you?
