OJ just pretty much fucked up the rest of his life. He got thrown in jail for 9 years+ for armed robbery at a hotel. Now I don't know but if I was able to get away with murder the first time I think I would do my best to keep my head out of water as well as not do anything stupid. But I guess thats just me. Because it makes to much sense. Fact of the matter is they FINALLY got him on something and yeah he's pretty much fucked.

It's actually the Constitution. It specifically bans "double jeapordy", where you can be tried for the same crime more than once. Also, unless they had a judge and jury who have never heard of OJ and the original trial, they're definitely being influenced by that decision, and probably punishing him as much because they think he killed his wife as because they think he robbed the guy. Honestly, I'm pretty sure OJ's lawyer actually questioned whether DNA was actually evidence during that trial. In the long run, fingerprints, which still have to be matched by people with no legal standards higher than county level, are much more questionable than DNA.

Actually, in the US, you can never be tried for the same thing twice. Period. High-end lawyers can reword lawsuits so that they are technically different, though.
