NPCs

I've been experimenting with the gRTP template and trying to come up with some NPCs. I'm still at a stage where I've only a single frame and I thought I'd get some C&C on the character design.

I may finish the rest of the frames, though I'm still looking into how to shade properly for animated poses.

Very nice design but the hair could use some more shading and the dress looks flat because of the shading.

Well, since gRTP only uses 3 colors (one for the outline, one for the main - or filler - color and one for the shadows/highlights), I'm not sure where I could add shading to make the dress and the hair less flat. I'd appreciate any pointers, though

1 and 2:
The reason it looks flat is because of these parts, remember that dresses round off....so you will need to shade the sides to show that.

The hair as i said...the strands of hair look odd...try and make the lines more curved and shade them.

I know its the gRTP but they can still be shaded using the 3 colours.

I tried to define the hair a little better and rounded off the dress. It doesn't seem like a big difference to me, but I'm probably biased.

Hmm, maybe bump up the contrast on the skirt a bit, or add trim to the hem as on upper arms?

It may be an issue with imageshack, where the pictures are hosted. I'm currently reworking the sprite and will find another picture host once I'm finished. :*)
