Noble Purgatory Manga: My attempts at japanese styled art

So yea, anyone that knows me or has even seen my art knows that I shy away from anime/manga style at all costs. I was really hardcore realism for a long time. Well you can probably say that I have given in and decided to try my hand at it. Did three pages this afternoon when i got from work. I went online and studied some manga comics, got a pencil and stole some paper and a ruler from my office. I tried to go for a not so... conventional way of doing it, I hope i achieved my goal. And just for the record, I still hate chibbi.....

Page 2 is a little hard to figure out which order it goes in, but otherwise it looks good. Everything's detailed enough to be semi-realist, but also the style makes it quite clear that this is not reality and things that don't happen can happen. I'm impressed. Also, the fact it starts en medias res in the most crucial moment, makes me want to read any more you make. Good luck with this.

yeah i like the art. its very confusing and I dont like the text honestly. I would give the characters a little more detail or broaden the backgrounds a bit, but it looks pretty good for a start.

love the art, but I really would consider finishing the dialogue during design and just handwrite it, it would look a LOT better.

otherwise, i wouldn't say this looks like a manga. it's too highly detailed; too stylized in a way different from all the manga i've ever read.

the story sounds as if it's Naruto with way way better art :V

You obviously havent seen my penmanship :biggrin:, Iadded everything but the actual drawing in as a separate layer just in case.

I will change them immediately, and ill watch this naruto too make sure our stories arn't too similar.

The proportioning bothers me a bit, and how despite how you've heavily shaded/toned the body, the face isn't, making the face feel sort of detached. Maybe try to make the font color grayer to match the rest of the page too. It could be just me, but seeing the font bolder/darker than the rest of the page is a little distracting. I'm loving the style overall though. Your personal style still shines through despite the deliberate attempt at imitating another style.
