Nintendo DSi

There's plenty of times where I'd rather just play games than talk to someone. You're going to get bored of just talking and staring at scenery, especially if you're not the most talkative type. Not to mention there are some fantastic games for the GBA and DS that you can only play on those systems. They're about as pointless as "real" consoles anyway, they both serve the same point-entertainment.

Anyway, we're sort of derailing here! The DSi-I've thought about buying one, but imo they're not worth the price for a few extra gimmicks, no matter how good that WarioWare game looks. I've still got my DS "Phat" and I've had it since 2004-hasn't given me any problems yet. I might buy a Lite though, they're probably a bit cheaper now.

Cool I was wondering whether or not I should get this but now I'm definitely getting this I have a ds already but who cares this one has cameras too take pictures of you and things in front of you thats awesome. I also heard that u can edit the pictures with some kind of program and upload them on websites like myspace lol. btw handheld games r really useful and not a waste of money I know when I can't sleep I play ms d.s till I'm tired.

Since Platinum came out I'll get the DSi (Never had a DS before, might as well buy the i)

I'm not saying there's no market, because obviously people buy them, but I'm saying they're pointless. If there's people in your house, you can just talk to the person(s) in there.. that's what I always do, and if no one's home just call somebody. Personally, for me, there is just never a point to play a console

I'm not saying there's no market, because obviously people buy them, but I'm saying they're pointless. If you're the passenger of a car, you can just talk to the other person(s) in there with you.. that's what I always do. Personally, for me, there is just never a point to whip out a tiny gaming machine and play, because if I have time to play a game, it's in my living room on a big screen with a real console, or on the PC.

Car journeys, especially as a kid/teen. Fuck, I travel everywhere with my dad and we don't get on. So whipping out Pokémon and playing and just letting time go by is fun. When you're shattered but cant sleep, playing the handheld machine in your bed for example. They are more comfortable to use in a way, lying down on your bed or on the couch, etc. Airplane journeys too; rarely do people talk on them.

Anyway, I wouldn't buy the DSi, I have a lite. and I wouldn't buy it for Platinum, because Platinum doesn't make use of the features.

when i was young, me and my friends ALL played pokemon. we used to constantly go over each-others houses (i literally stayed at my friends house - who lived across the street - for two straight weeks, once) with our gbc/gba and play for hours on end. that's what we did when we visited each other, we sat on the porch and battled pikachus, and we talked. maybe when you're older - and the only reason you visit your friends is to borrow money, smoke weed, and watch TV a portable gaming device would be out of it's element - but to kids who have friends that also play them, they serve a very good purpose of playing them anywhere with no hassle. when there's 5 kids, and only one them has parents who could afford a playstation (which was the case, for me), it's not a very good alternative to everyone playing at once.

really, handhelds are pointless to you because they're not for you. that's like me claiming HD-compatible game systems are pointless because i dont have an HD TV (and i dont).

also, DSi can kiss my ass. my psp does all that, and an oldschool DS costs half as much.

DSi is a waste, DSiware would be worth it but im guessing anything a third person developer is gonna do is gonna already have been done as homebrew for flashcarts. Music and movies can be done on DS with a flashcart, camera is a gimmick, browser is okay but not enough to warrant £50, hell £70 on top of a lite. I have a phat and was going to get the DSi but I got a TTDS a month ago and don't need anything more, a few extra pixels would be nice but not worth the money. Also you can use the Acekard v.2i or something if you wanna flashcart.
