Next-Gen Console Reviews

It would also be nice if the power button on the remote could turn the system off and on, instead of just on, but that's a very minor complaint.

Actually the power button does turn the system off. You just have to hold it for a few seconds.

Illusion of Gaia? How about the whole Soul Blazer series? Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, AND Terranigma! That would be cool.

Apparently though, the first PS1 games became available today, so part of what Is aid before was wrong.

Cool Boarders - 283MB - $5.99
Crash Bandicoot - 469MB - $5.99
Hot Shots Golf 2 - 157MB - $5.99
Syphon Filter - 385MB - $5.99
Tekken 2 - 535MB - $5.99

Looking at those sizes, I'm glad I'm getting a 2GB memory stick. Are there any plans for final fantasy games yet? I wonder how big they'll be...

well sony said you will beable to download them from the PSP. And Tales of Destiny is on the PSP allready. Its called Tales of ETernia

I'm not importing a flawed port of the original game. From what I heard, there were crashes and bugs everywhere. Ones the original didn't have.Though if the first Tales of Destiny is availible, I'll be grateful enough.

Speaking of, does Sony plan to allow the download and use of japanese PS1 games?

No idea Dopples. The Japanese have a whole bunch of other PS1 games available that we don't so far, so it's hard to say. The PS3 IS region free, but what that means beyond manually importing games, I don't know.

That reminds me - something the "Playstation Button" on the SIXAXIS lacks than I'm looking forward to in the future is PSP-like functionality, where it brings up the XMB in its entirety from within a game. Hell, I want to see the PSP sleep function, so I can turn the PS3 off, and it will still be in-game when I come back. It's not that much of a stretch to make a frikkin save-state.

Also, Mega Flare, you're a cad!

I forgot I had that avatar before the hack disaster.

Well, I finally got a Wii this past week, and I have to say, it's REALLY fun. All I have is Wii Sports right now, but the new Blue Tooth control scheme is really impressive. I'm anxious to see how Zelda plays, but I think Nintendo has developed something very groundbreaking for consoles here.

So far I haven't accessed any of the online features (I need to get the USB adapter so I can port a wireless access point from my PC land line). I'm most excited about the Virtual Console (NES, SEGA, SNES, N64 games for download), especially since I don't play online gaming that much.

As already mentioned, the graphics are ED, not HD, so they won't be as groundbreaking as what the PS3 can do, but I'm far more interested in gameplay than graphics, especially considering that I don't have a TV that supports ED or HD. To me, the power of the PS3 isn't worth the extra $400 for better graphics, especially considering just how fun and easy the Wii Remote and Nunchuck are to use.

That's my 2 cents.

No-one ever told me of a PS1 store?! Tekken 2? Why oh why did i get a Wii? Tekken 2 is worth $600, or however much in pounds.

But Mario is better. Therefore the Wii wins. Trouble is, the european Wii internet service hasn't been fully launched, as all you can download are a handful of games.

He does it by typing it buddy :thumb:

Anyways, the Wii is everything and more. The gameplay is great, and I love the virtual console. The response time on the remote is pretty spot on and you don't have to shake it hard to do something.

I can't really say much more, since most of it's been said, but it's still better then the PS3 which my friend got. (It locked up like, 5 times on one game.)

I currently have a Wii, I'm having a lot of fun with it on my projector^^, I like the wiimote ,the design of the Wii, Wii Sports(I only find it fun with friends it gets boring by yourself...) and Zelda:TP.
What I'm dissapointed with is this:
-The Virtual console, the games cost too much for old kind of games, come on Nintendo 5 to 10€(yes I live in France[It's in Europe for anybody who doesn't know :D]) that I could easily get for just 2 or 3€ (well sometime up to 1000€ for rare cartridges...) at a local fleamarket (I once saw 6 SNES games for 5€...)
-Batteries in the remote, I'll have to buy Joytech's rechargeable one...
-Strangely Weather Channel, Informationdsfdsf, Informtion Channel and specially the Internet Channel still aren't available, and strangely the Shop Channel works(the only one where Nintendo can get some money)...
-Launch titles, OK exept Zelda and Redsteel(It still isn't as good as I thought...) I'm not interested in the other ones(Rayman, NFS,Exite truck, Wii Play...). I'm stilll waiting for MP3:Corruption, SSBB and Mario Galaxy though.
-Online: Yes, no online games(+Internet Channel) at launch...
But nearly everybody I know that has tried mine has got one(well pre-ordered) or found it really fun.

The Wii's internet channel was released in America today, and I've been using it for an hour or so. It's cute, but my Wii is next to the computer, so I probably won't be using it very often. Of course, I never planned to, but its cute that I can.

I got a wii, and I'll tell you some Pros and Cons to it.

Pros: 1.It introduces somewhat of a new gaming style.

2. It gets you moderate amounts of exercise.

3.Its fun as hell.

Cons: 1. Its graphical capabilitys seem rather weak. I don't think we'll be seeing any realistic looking games on it.

2. The fact that when you put a game in, you have to go in the Wii menu before putting the game on is rather Tedious.

Thats only some Pros and cons, I could go on and on. But, meh, I'll let someone esle do that.

You do know you have to hold down the power button on the remote to turn off the system? That way it prevents accidental turn-offs.

Personally I like accessing the menu first before playing a game. But that's just me. In either case, going to the wii menu to load a game is a lot faster than loading a PS2 game. I don't know about 360 or PS3 loadups though.

I got a 360 for Xmas, here are the pros and cons:

Pros:

~Seperate profiles for each player allows you to have your own set of saves that other profiles don't effect. This is a great feature, though because of it, several games only have one save slot.

~The games look amazing, and I'm using a regular TV, not HD! I have Oblivion, and for the first few days it was almost hard to concentrate on playing, becuase I ended up looking at the forests and mountains for long periods of time.

~Game Play is nearly the same as the first Xbox, so I didn't have to adapt to a new style of game play. The controil has oly a few diferences, and the Console Menus are easy to navigate.

Cons:

~I have no way to connect to the internet for Xbox Live (no Arcade for me :() I also can't get the Backwards Compatibility pack for Original Xbox Games.

~This console is sooo fragile. My first 360 actually overheated becuase we left it on while it was laying on the carpet and it fried. I mean, the console worked for the most part, but it wouldn't read any games. ANY OF THEM *cries. We had to trade for a new one.

~Some of the newer consoles won't even play 360 games until you instal a 360 Game Patch! The console comes with this patch, but it should auto instal or something instead of making us think we couldn't play our games!!!!

~Time will do bad things to the 360. My Oblivion game just recently started Freezing and lagging. It is usually okay, but if I play for too long it basically crashes.

Don't worry, folks! The 360 is a great family gaming console and is very 'efficient'. Now go get one and enjoy the beauty of slicing Zombies in half (in Dead Rising)!

Peace Out!
~Broken
