I got bored after class today so I decided to make a simple signature. It's far from my best work but I like the way it came out. Comments? Suggestions?

there's not a lot to comment on. it's someone else's font on someone else's background. or maybe you used photoshop filters instead. at any rate, you didn't so much make it as you put it together from pre-existing pieces.
for what it's worth, "fate" is pretty much unreadable on the signature bit.

I made both pieces from scratch. What the hell are you talking about?
you used a font creator to make your own font? or did you just carefully do a manual copy of an existing font because you like to torture yourself?
from a design standpoint, its bad. the font doesnt fit well with the image size. the font isnt even centered, notice how the e in fat is touching the border while there is a small gap with the p in puppet. the font doesnt stand out at all. fate, as has been said, is almost unreadable. also you made an avatar that "matches", but it doesnt match at all really.
