When RMVX was released, the thread for it was like 26 pages and became the biggest thread on .org.

From what I can understand of that, having add-ons is a good idea, but I just realized that they will probably skimp out even further on the main program if they can sell extras. =/

it's probably going to be a closed program anyhow, and no developers will never add the much, much needed addons.
of course, I'm still excited and hopefully, they get all the good shit right.

I'm getting to old for this shi*t. I have yet to complete a game on any of the previous versions. And I've tried them all except vx. But they should focus more on making an array of Chipsets/tiles because those are more complicated to make then faces, characters, and the other things they had listed. IMO.

Awesome! Although I'm starting to grow out of RPG Maker as a serious development tool, I'm definitely going to check it out when it comes out. It's still bound to be fun to play around with. I'm eager to see more.

Did anyone else try filling out the survey? I did, don't really know why though. For the ones that required text, I wrote what I wanted in Google Translate, translated it into Japanese and copied and pasted it. Don't think that will turn out well. I wonder if it actually worked...?

I can't help but be excited for a new RPG Maker. Even if just for the RTP. To me, there is a strange satisfaction with getting a new Maker and making a game using the default stuff. Maybe because I've never played anyone else's game so I don't see the sprites and other graphics used elsewhere all the time...and I must admit I like the music. It's not my favorite or anything, but it doesn't have to be. I think that RPG Maker 1, 2, 3, XP, and VX all had at least one song I really liked.

This program is really only a stepping stone towards engines such as Unreal, CryEngine, etc. Continuously using them will really only hamper your abilities as it's all generally the same program. This series is cute, but it wont last more than another 5 years, not with the rate of phone applications steaming out from the industry.

While I'm with you on RPG Maker being a beginners' program that people should graduate from at some point, there's still a pretty big market of people who are really fresh to the whole concept of game making. (But that said, they did gimp AGM/IGM so badly that no one wanted to even try it -- maybe that trend'll continue?)

Since this is up again, do we have any updates on this? I'm curious about what they've purposely broken this time.
