Protexis, the distributor for: XP, VX, IG maker was taken over by CoGen Media Co., Ltd. in July 2010. Because of this transfer your serial number will not work when you try to activate the full program if you got it from Protexis.

I learned this when I tried installing RMXP on my new laptop. I went to enterbrain's sales support page and gave them my serial number and order number from Protexis as proof of purchase. They emailed me back the next day explaining why my old key doesn't work and gave me a new product key.
You'll also need to download the new setup file. The old setup file won't connect to the servers when you try to activate the program.
Just a heads up if you ever find yourself needing to reinstall something.

Actually, keygens will work, as when there's no internet connection upon activation, they will still activate your local copy, no matter who buys it
