New Homepage!

I've been working on my newest homepage. My old one is old, and I'm tired of looking at a dark, grey home screen every time I open firefox.

I came across a pokémon rpg website and I liked the layout so I roughly began from there. I shaped things here and there and decided on a sky-dangling thingy mabob (but that doesn't really ring off the tongue so I named it skydome... bit of a misnomer but w/e)

I went for simplistic docks and colors and this is pretty much what I came up with:

All the images are mine with exceptions for logos, the cog, and the book, and the background. But I made everything else

The 3 dots on the header are links to websites that I don't really want to have icons for because there semi-private (well... not really but kinda). I also want a new background but I haven't been able to sketch up anything that I like so I'm sticking with this as well until I find something else.

UrbanDictionary (I end up using that a lot, not always in with the newest slang hehe)

All the search bars work (shown by the youtube search... I love that song!). And the hulu has an extra dropdown menu of my favorite shows.


So... yerp. It definitely isn't perfect, I dislike the chain behind the Google among a numerous amount of things but hey it works and for now I'm content. What do you guys think? Also is there a website dedicated to people who make their own homepages like this? I personally love making things like this and I was wondering if there were any other ones that are probably better and I can learn from.

I have bad memories of that site, they banned me for macroing (didn't, just won a 2k pokemon in a contest) and told me they couldn't and wouldn't unban me because the mod that had banned me had been fired so they didn't have any records. :|

But that's off topic.

I have to say I actually like this layout quite a bit. The only issue is er... get a ruler out and check your alignments, because they're a lot out in some places.

But yeah, I like it.

Hmm, I actually made the entire thing with photoshop and iWeb (which I personally hate but I don't know any coding needed for dreamweaver) and all alignments you see are result of gridlocks and auto-alignment tools. Which is off alignment? I've been looking at this thing too long to notice

I have a friend who used those tools for his first website as he had no knowledge of HTML or CSS, his site was image-heavy and took me 5 minutes to load everything with a 1.2mb page download speed (All graphics compressed GIFs too!)
I remade the site in CSS and HTML for him for free

Do you have a live link to your site so I can inspect it under different browsers?
