Hey!

Back in the day I played around with RM2k. Nothing serious. Recently I pulled it up and got a nostalgia kick, then discovered this crazy new thing called RMXP. So, here I am!

Day to day, I'm a .NET programmer (C#, ASP.NET) with a Java background, so I expect to have some fun with scripting. I admit there's the ulterior motive of RMXP being Ruby based, which is a draw because we all know Ruby is what all the cool kids are doing, and who doesn't want to be cool? So, I get to make RPGs and update the ol' resume. Win-win!

I've been lurking, looking at the changes from 2k to XP, trying to figure out how things work, and all that. There's a lot to learn! But, its going to be fun.

gotta say, though, if you know how to program in C, you might wanna check Game Maker out. it's way less expensive than RMXP, and capable of way more -- especially if you know C, BASIC, or GML. it's just a much stronger engine; not in danger of serious lag from tens or fifties of events in one room. as a forum we're branching out beyond just the rm* series soon, so it's not like you're stuck with enterbrain products here. just cover the field and stick with whatever works best for you.
