A lot of potential, are you some sort of cunt?  Who starts a post with, "Hmm yep, its got potential" You trying to insult my work, thats basicly saying, theres shit loads wrong with it and I'm not going to tell you.

Also, Once I've gotten the first chapter in my game complete, which would give me a lot of character sets on this 6x4 template, I'll think about extending it too 8-directions.

I wasn't insulting you in any way, i really meant it. If you don't like it, fine, just don't flame me because i don't like to make some bigass post trying to impress you and your huge e-penis.

Just because I only said that don't reply saying I'm being rude -.-

ahahahhahaha what. who are you.

but yeah i didn't see anything wrong by saying it had potential. it's exactly what i think, there's still room to work with here. are you looking for feedback on just the walk cycle itself or the sprite as a whole (like the clothing and hair and stuff too or just the animation (i don't like the way the hair animates AT ALL but maybe you're not really working on the hair at the moment)).

It looks very jerky but I don't think it has to be -- how many frames is it? it looks like the upper arms move very smoothly, but in contrast the legs really seem to JUMP from back to forward instantly. then again it is very hard to see at the speed of the animation. could you post a slower animation, maybe even at 2x? pls :-D

the jump with the hands is way too jarring, though, definitely. one frame they are moving nice and smooth behind him and the next BOOM they are in front of him, HUGE, and at a totally different angle. the problem isnt HEY THE HANDS ARE BIG, but the transition to that particular frame is very sudden.

good luck i look forward to more you're one of my favorite spriters in this place

Not trying to be a forum mod, but those images were done by http://gueusav.deviantart.com/ and he's using them without permission for his "Studio32"

not to be a forum admin, but nobody really gives a shit (its a broken link anyway). people use anime and game art in their sigs all the time. don't derail this topic, this guy's been around forever and he's a solid spriter looking for feedback on his work. if you don't have it, get out.

Stage one seems a little odd. Maybe it's that pixel of movement towards the outer side.

OFF TOPIC: btw, the artist is http://gueuzav.deviantart.com/
And since it is not that well known, some could think that those images are related to this Studio32. That wouldn't happen with Naruto or Sailor Moon of course... but there is a little difference here.
zeldrak is right, and the only answer is "you're right".

Riiight, anyway.

Answers:
Mostly the movements, as I ain't great at setting things down from skratch.

6 frames

2sec frame delay (otherone was 1 sec)

I'm still not convinced with the hair, someone said it shouldn't move at all, which I kinda agree with.

Also the jump, yeah, that was definatly something thrown out before it was ready, by a long way.  The things I've gotta do are, obviously the arms, a little more to the head, and a splashdown type thing as he's jumping down either through clouds or water.  Haven't worked the entire scene out on that part.

Okay, I see the problem with the legs. There's a frame that you don't really need. Try taking out the frame with the two short legs (does that make sense, it's the last one in the image and the mirrored version of it) or change the position of the legs in it. The frame preceding it has the feet in nearly the same exact position, which makes it look like the foot "hangs" at one point during the run cycle.

Since you're aware of the hand I'll hold off on that until you post an updated try. As for the hair, maybe if I have the time later tonight I'll try and animate it myself. The problem you have is that you're animating the ends mostly, and i think it'd be better to move the entire chunks.

Wow amazing sprite, I love the big hands, it makes it unique and detailed.

Criticism:
The strand of hair that sways while running isn't right. It goes too slow and would be more suitable for a stationary position (with the wind blowing.) I would either make it still or make it seem as if it goes front to back instead of side to side.

The animation seems smooth enough. The arm movement isn't quite right yet, but I can't put my finger on it. I think its in the shading of the shoulders. I'm not terrific with the animation side of things.
I keep looking at the shading of the clothes however, and especially in the hair. It's almost borderline pillowed, but not quite. As well it seems a bit washed out. However, if you are planning on cleaning it up later, whatever. Still, as I said, I like the style. Are you building this template with a dressed character?
