New Charset Style

G'day and thanks for looking at this topic!

I am not in the need of a complete charset template or anything huge, just something simple. However, I don't really have this artist-hmph that some great artists in this community like Tana has. This is what the topic's about. I'm working on a series of tilesets using a new style (credits to Stevy for that). The only problem is that without the artist-hmph I have been unable to figure out what kind of charset would fit with the tileset.

If anyone has an idea of what the charset could look like in size/brush style/form, please draw a quick sketch and post it here. Thank you! ^_^

Here's an image of the dark forest tileset (still needs additional shading with the bushes and I'm not really satisfied with the roots on the trees):

And a seperate tree with room for the charset next to it:

If you want you can just load that image and add a charset next to it, then upload and post~! The style does not need to be RTP, Half Kaizer, or something like that. Just an idea of what you think would look best. Probably not too pixel-ish, because the background isn't either.

Take care~

I have to say, the size and drawing-style are perfect. It blends in really well with the tileset. The style itself would need some work though. The feet and the overall build are a bit too comic-styled (or, as you put it, not serious enough) for my type of game. I'll fiddle around with it, unless of course someone else already has or can come up with a better idea. Good job on that size though, heh.

Yeah, feel free to edit. I make that fopr Erg, originally, so it's a bit goofier, as the game has a very cartoon feel to it. But you can use it as a base and change what you want (maybe trim the feet, etc).

your backgrounds look similar to what Stevo is doing... I don't know if Stevo's in to sharing, but I did a template for him that you might want to ask.

Otherwise the one from Despain is pretty good, I'd retrace the actual characters with the brush tool rather than the pencil for yours.
