New at anything? What do you think

Ok, the title is misleading, so I will try to explain.

When someone is attempting something new, they can be rather annoying. Now most people can only deal with it up to a certain point.

My question is this: if someone is new at something that you are [quite, or decently] good at, what do you consider them as? Just another person, an annoyance, etc.

State why.

I find people who are new at things amazing. It means they are expanding their horizon. Don't get me wrong, I know there is a limit (refers to knocked-ups in school) but for the most part they are rather amazing to be around, they want to learn.

You guys?

Sorry, not a Symposium topic.  Moved.

Personally I don't think anything of someone trying something new.  It doesn't phase me at all.  Unless it's something I'm particularly good at, in which case I try to help 'em out.  I've never thought of anyone being annoying, when just starting out - even if they are asking lots of questions or looking for help (though if it's the same thing over and over again, yes I can get easily annoyed).

There are a lot of people who hate n00bs who are new to things like proper forum etiquette and such, but I've found that to be the annoyance, not the rookie.

Though, maybe that's just me.  Usually though, as I said, someone starting something new almost never phases me.  On a rare case I'll get excited for them, and be all "good for you!".

I'm pretty encouraging most of the time, even if I am getting annoyed (or bored). You can't let people know that you don't care or don't want to watch them or whatever if you expect them to do well... Well, you can, but it's not the best way to go about it. Therefore, I hide it and try to remain encouraging... unless I lose all patience (which takes a lot). Then, that's a whole other story.

I consider them as noobs and shun them.

But on a serious note, if they have the willingness to learn and the patience to let me explain things in my own way and the respect not to bother me all the time, then they are cool by me and I'd help em out.

oh man its annoying.

i've been playing the guitar for like 4 years. i've had so many people pick up one of my guitars and try to get me to teach them to use it. i can't stand trying to teach people to do something, especially when i dont even really know how i do it. then i constantly hear AM I DOING IT RIGHT?!

back when i was in highschool/middleschool, i used to draw a lot. somehow i became the artistry yardstick of which everyone else would measure their own talent. it became everyone else bothering me every 5 minutes saying DOES THIS LOOK GOOD?!

So then you're saying self-learning is a better way to go? I'd probably agree. All the piano I've learnt is teaching myself everything I know.

But there are people out there who enjoy showing people how to do things. Teachers being the obvious one... well most teachers anyway. There's sort of a sense of accomplishment seeing your passion come alive in someone else. What's more, when you share your knowledge with someone else, you'll often find you learn a lot about yourself too. I dunno, two sides of the coin here.

I'd say anyone who wants to try something knew is certainly entitled to. I would not consider them a nuicance unless they had an irritating manner. If they go about trying something new, take critism well, try to improve; without constantly bugging people for attention and put work in themseleves then only good can be achieved.
