I had a little dragon thingy and basically looked around the site. I remember the dice game. First I would get some omelet then get a scratch card along with any other kind of gambling things I could do.
I also remember playing the game where you were rolling and collecting the berries and the dubloon game. After a month or so though, I kinda got bored and moved on.

but eventually I wondered why I was feeding fake animals when they didn't die or anything like that

I started off going to the giant omelette erryday but then I left for a week and realised my pets hadn't died when I got back so I never once fed them after that.

I guess the red text is supposed to make you feel guilty and come back to play or something.

Christ, everyone nowadays is obsessed with big numbers.

Dubloon Disaster used to have coins that were 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200.

Now they've multiplied them all by 5 and fifthed the number of neopoints you get at the end; so they're 10, 25, 50, 100, 500
