A significant update; I remade the bastard bigger and started working on another sprite, his sister (yeah, that thing with the braid is a boy, but he's nine so it's okay to be androgynous, right?):

I want them too be large, but not as large as they were before; I don't know how I missed those!

I like the changes. The foreheads seem a bit large, moreso on the one with the bangs, strangely. I really think that this version is the closet, though.

Question: is it a side-scroller?

I can actually SEE the 200% versions, which is wonderful :>. I still think they'd do well with a dark overall outline, because the skin is easily lost on the midtone background, even blown up 200%.

Can't see the new ones well enough to say anything, though.

You can't see their scalps at all, so I assume that it's a-- owait Des already mentioned that above me :x

Okay no, seriously I like the newest version of them a decent size body and a fairly large head. It is a unique form of chibi-ness. I liked the style before, but those are better in my opinion. I think you are on the right road with them, I'll probably comment more once I see more of that version, like the running frames.

RTP has higher contrast so they're easier to see. But now that I'm on a better monitor I can see these better.

They "pop" on light and dark backgrounds, but wash out easily in the midtone background. There needs to be something to draw the eye off the background, because now it's lost. I can't see their arms at all on that background.

The orange outline of the hair is a liittle to close to the yellow color; it gets drowned out in the subtlety.

And yeah the forehead of the boy is still a little high (If you take away the bangs, he's got a pretty large forehead).

Otherwise, good work! Your sprites always have a lot of character.

But seriously,

Yeah, hair usually moves while moving. Its ok with rtp, and other templates, but yours seems to have more detail and depth. Otherwise, it looks like you did a great job.
