Need help with my cbs

I'm trying to make a cbs based on chrono trigger but i have some difficulties making attack/items/skills effects and damage. I'd like to know how to display damage on an event, showing animation ect.

I know how to script a lot of things, the problem is that it's my first attempt in cbs and i need help to understand exactly how it works.
