Need a character's in-game sprite and menu sprite to be different.

I'm making a slightly altered Pokemon-style game where the main character uses the monsters to fight for him in battle. However, I ran into a roadblock along the line in that the character that the player controls won't actually be in the battle; his monsters will be instead. I easily fixed this by simply making the monster's character images be the player, so that in-battle the monsters will appear, while outside of battle the main character's sprite appears.

However, upon opening the menu I found that the sprites were, of course, all the sprites of the playable character and not the monsters. So, if there is any way to change the menu sprite to be different from both the character and battler sprites, or if someone has any other way to help, it'd be great. And if I need to explain this any better just ask.
 
Well, I was thinking about that, but the only menu scripts I could find used the same kind of sprite images. So basically, it didn't help at all. Do you have a link to the Mog style menu, or the script for it?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it, I'll see if I can't get it to work it's magic.
