Names above head ?

Hey everyone, I need a script, which would be really handy for my game.

What I need is, the name of your character above your head at all times, which has been done before, although, I also need something like this:

Say I make an event, give it a sprite, and add a comment called Jeff, then the name Jeff will appear above the events head, so I can now give my events names that can be seen by the player without him having to talk to each one of them.

I would also like this to be able to be turned on and off with a call script, I imagine it would be like:

$game.player_headname = False

Although I somehow get the feeling I'm WAY off.

I hope this is enough info for what I need, and I hope someone can do this for me.

Couldn't you do this with event's, or stick the name over the character's head, through the character's event itself.

I can't get it to work even if I take out the SDK lines, I get an error Line 264 which is:

    bitmap.draw_icon_text(0, 0, 192, 24, @character.etd_display_text, 1)

Any ideas ?

OK, download this.

Copy the scripts in the editor paste them into yours.
Open the game folders and copy the folder 'RSC Hidden Files', into your game folder.

I wasn't going to open the spoiler but, when I went to quote your post I saw you were kidding.  :lol:

The demo works, but when I copy the scripts and the RSC Hidden Files folder, and testplay my game, I get an error report with game.exe

Any idea why ?

Nope I put it into a blank project.

I guess I'll just need someone to make me a new one as this isn't working
