hi guys, like i've been here since...end of '06? I think I only posted ONE thing regarding RPG's since then.
This would be my second time posting something 'useful'.

I am making a game in Java with a game (I'm 'Lead Designer' and I also program a bit.)

What do you think of the stuff that I've made?

Yeah, its a hipotion. also i like the first sword, the seconds one seems,,shallow

its also my mother's perfume, according to the lead programmer.
 
What a coincidence. Its hi potion. ImHiPotion. ;P
I dunno. for some reason. The bit where the wood meets the sword looks weird to me. but other than that it's perfect...
I assure you. Both me and the other potion are not your mothers perfume... I think...

Looking good! Maybe tweak the colour of the top of the tree stump though for a little more contrast:

And out of curiosity, have you considered shadows? I know some people prefer not to have them in these isometric RPGs, but it would help ground elements like the fallen log (though it looks fine as it is, just that shadows add that extra boost in-game).

Yeah i have but the programmer doesnt like em so i just removed them from this versions lol

he thinks we will be able to do them with code or whatever
 
Your programmer doesn't like a lot...
Are you working for him, or together?
Because its seeming to be the former from what you've been saying.

Nah we're working together, but I mean he CODES lol. Nah It ok, we're friends actually. He exploded mi minecraft house last night though.

Ok I'll try to re do the log when I get some free time. Also, this RPG is kinda old school so that tree seems very landmark-ish, should I do more common trees?
 
Hrm... It seems like you're being sidelined with no input though. Unless his dislike for something is due to how it might complicate programming... I feel like you should be more in control of the graphical direction... he's a programmer... you're the ARTIST....

And fyi, "he's the programmer" is a poor excuse.
Good artists (for video game art) is just as hard, or harder to find to work for free.
I mean, if I were in his position, considering I try to do graphics AND my programming (the part I like), I would love to have a free artist doing all that graphical stuff.

I somewhat agree with Xhukari. I know you guys are friends and everything. But if you think it looks good with a shadow, then it should have a shadow. But hey! To be honest, no shadow, less work for you. Maybe he is thinking of you ;P

heh yeah, we've just settled on the type of charset we'll use.

Give it's old school, I'm going to work o na RM2003 charset template. I'm changing a few bits here and there and recoloring the template, may post the template later tonight.

(I don't actually know how to pixel art so most of the times i try to follow tutorials and then redo stuff by myself.

So here's a rucksack -I didn't know how to do the shadows :(

You nailed the tree stump!

By shadows, I meant something as simple as this for ground objects:

Just to help ground them. So backpacks and inventory items wouldn't need them, but it might help for large objects on the maps. Just a basic transparency colour.

Thats far too alpha channely!

Some of them used to have shadows, but i erased them. Like this old log that i remade form the rtp (somewhat different)
