My first ever real attempt at spriting!

Here is the top row of my current charset of which is still a work in progress at the moment. I would liek for you all to be honest and all but keep in mind this is my first attempt at spriting without any help from a generator such as on looseleaf or character maker xp or any of the others out there.

DO give me c&C. Suggestions are needed so that I may get better at this. I am sick of the limitations of character generators that are mostly good for NPCS, and stuff. I used Grapchi Gale to do this.

Hmm...I am positive of it that it is made with MS paint. The colours here and there are a bit...pale. No shading. The char looks a little as if it's bald. The white line in the middle of his shirt looks weird. It moves a bit...too much. But it is not that bad for a first time. Need some better shading tho. But ey, I am not that good myself :tongue: But it can turn out great.

You don't need to use a sprite generator to get good results.  Heck, I'm gonna bet most of the people on here *don't* use generators.

As a first try without any knowlege of what you were doing, well....it looks like a person.

Read up on some of the tutorials on this website, and try studying and recoloring some sprites before you go out on a limb and try making your own. 

As is, it needs outlines, shading, and more natural movements - not many people walk with their limbs at 45 degree angles from their bodies.  Also, he has no neck.  Shirts don't move like that when you move.  Also, maybe you should try a slightly bigger sprite first - or just take one of the templates and work off that for now.

Yikes! If you're going for the RTP look you should use Mack's template. In fact when starting out it's best to use a template no matter what style you're going for. Take a look here.

You know, just because it was made in MS Paint doesn't necessarily mean it's instantly crap, although I can't say the same about this sprite.
